2025 Cognizant Classic Round 4: When Will Michael Kim and Jake Knapp Tee Off in the $9.2M Event?

Saturday at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches was a reminder of just how tough PGA National can be. As the wind picked up and the greens firmed, the infamous Bear Trap showed its teeth, and some of the leaders from the third round were caught off guard. It was a day of highs and lows, where one moment you could be in control, and the next, you’re battling to stay in the game. Taylor Montgomery, who had been leading, faced a rough start at the par-3 15th. His tee shot found the water, and his third shot came up short, wedged between two rocks.

After a couple of trips to the drop zone, he finally made it to dry land, but the damage was done—a quadruple bogey that took him out of the lead. But Montgomery wasn’t done yet. He finished strong, posting two birdies in his final three holes to end the day at 13-under, just three shots behind the leader. Jesper Svensson also ran into trouble on the 15th. After overshooting the green and landing in a bunker, his second shot flew past the green and into the water. What followed was a triple bogey, and despite a couple of pars, he ended the day six shots behind the leader, struggling to recover. Michael Kim, the overnight leader, found himself in a similar bind on the 15th.

His tee shot hit the rock wall in front of the green, ricocheted off into the mud, and left him in a tricky spot. But with a little creativity—removing his shoe to hit the ball out of the mud—Kim managed to limit the damage to a bogey. He finished the day with a birdie at 18, holding onto second place at 15-under, just one shot behind Jake Knapp. Despite the challenges, a few players kept their heads above water. Russell Henley, Rickie Fowler, and Daniel Berger will all be in the mix on Sunday, with their sights set on the trophy.
