2025 Investec South African Open: Prize Money Breakdown & Winner’s Payout

The Investec South African Open is currently kicking off at the Royal Durban Golf Course. Now in its 114th year, the tour features 156 pro golfers and offers numerous awards for its winners. However, let’s first take a quick look at the names leading the leaderboard. Currently, the 3rd round is underway. While you get ready for the third day’s thrilling actions, here’s a look at the round 2 results. Shaun Norris is leading the competition at -14. Dylan Naidoo and Sam Bairstow closely follow him, as they are currently tied at -13. Interestingly, five of the top 10 players are South African. Interestingly, all the last 6 winners of this tour are all homegrown. If everything goes well, it is likely the Durban crowd will have another reason to celebrate at the end of the week!

So, does it look like the trophy will stay on the continent? Well, that’s likely. How about the awards that the tour will offer to its top contenders? Along with a whopping purse of $1.5 million, the tour will introduce a $100k Order of Merit prize that will run throughout the DP World Tour’s first season. Additionally, the leaders in this merit will receive an invitation to the first Rolex event of the following season!

That means the stakes are high. This year’s champion will take home $250,000, just like Dean Burmester did last year. However, it will come with 3,000 Race to Dubai points! Sounds exciting? While the 2nd placed golfer will take home $165,000, the last one (70th) will have $2,850! With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the complete breakdown of the purse!

The International Swing stage is reaching its end, with the Joburg Open being played between Mar 6 and 9. Eventually, the leading golfer at the Joburg Open will be the Swing Champion. He will also book a place at each of the Back 9 events, adding a $200k bonus. The eligible European players will also take home 1,000 Ryder Cup points. Sounds good? Well, let’s go through the latest from the Investec South African Open now.

What’s happening at the 2025 Investec South African Open?

Last year, Dean Burmester won by three strokes and took home $255,000. This year, as the defending champion, fans were waiting to see him at his peak. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been that great. Burmester is currently placed at T23 with a score of -8. Charl Schwartzel, on the other hand, is currently placed at T31 with a score of -7. Brandan Grace is at T6 with a score of -11.

But that was all about the leading names the fans were anticipating this season. How about the unexpected and the current names taking over the leaderboard? As mentioned before, Norris was leading the game with a score of -14 after round 2. However, Dylan Naidoo is closely following with a score of -13. Christiaan Maas had a brilliant bogey-free 2nd round. The South African is currently following close behind the top contenders with a score of -10.

With names like Todd Clements, Fredrick From, Joel Girrbach, and others in the Top 10, whom have you placed your hopes on for this round?

While the current round is ongoing and will see many ups and downs, catch the live action on the Golf Channel. Let us know what you think will happen at the end of the 3rd round!
