Most of the top quarterbacks of the 2026 class are already committed to their respective teams. Jared Curtis went to Georgia just days ago, and the other top QBs like Faizon Brandon and Dia Bell have made Austin and Knoxville their destinations. That leaves Bowe Bentley, the 7th-ranked QB in the country, to become one of the most sought-after QBs in the country. So much so that one of the teams has put all of its eggs in Bowe Bentley’s basket and is counting on Bentley to make the right move. And Bentley? Well, this time Bentley has got all the power with more than 30 offers in his bag, but even he knows that with great power comes greater responsibility.
Having garnered a rating of 92 on 247 Sports, teams like Arizona, Georgia, and Ohio State were after him, but his eyes were on two other programs that recruited him aggressively. The suitors were evident and expected since he led Celina to a 4A state championship in 2024 as a junior. In doing that, the QB helped the team to finish with a perfect 16-0 record and passed for 63 touchdowns. Now, after having showcased his prowess last in the US Navy All-American Bowl game back in January, the player has finally narrowed down his colleges to two.
The two programs Bentley picked are LSU and Oklahoma. Choosing Oklahoma was easy for him since his family has been lifelong Sooners themselves, and the player, too, being the Sooners’ fanboy. However, Bentley didn’t let that fandom cloud his judgment. “I think whenever this started to blow up, we kind of realized, okay, this is bigger than just a fan favorite,” Bentley remarked. “We gotta go in depth about everything. So kind of keeping that out of the picture, and just knowing I gotta make the best decision for me, the right fit for me.” And that takes us to LSU and why he included it in his list.
We all know that LSU has always been a top force in college football with their consistent national championship wins and producing 2 Heisman winners in the last 6 years. This is something that appealed to the QB and his admiration for former Tigers like Jayden Daniels and Joe Burrow. “Jayden Daniels, Joe Burrow, Garrett [Nussmeier]’s about to have a great season. It’s showing that Coach Sloan can develop. And [they were] playing for a national championship a couple of years ago, just always having a really good season.”
All in all, Bentley is torn between LSU and Oklahoma right now, and his admiration for both Joe Sloan and Ben Arbuckle is making it even harder. However, the 29-year-old Sooners OC has probably tuned it up a notch and has offered just one QB in 2026, that too being Bowe Bentley. Talk about not keeping your eggs in one basket, much? However, Joe Sloan, being in his second year at LSU, has developed Garrett Nussmeier, who produced more than 4,000 yards last season with 32 touchdowns. So, the dilemma can’t be any more gruesome for Bowe Bentley, and that is why he’s taking two final OVs to Oklahoma (June 13th) and LSU on June 20th.
