“I’m gonna hit a billy by 35 years of age. I’ll be a billionaire by the time I’m 35,” is what Conor McGregor declared to Ariel Helwani ahead of UFC 246 against Donald Cerrone. The former dual-weight champ and the promotion’s biggest PPV draw spoke during this interview. He stated that he was not close to his goal. However, he plans to achieve it by fighting and through his personal whiskey and clothing brands.
Fast-forward to 2025. McGregor is 36, and his net worth stands at a whopping $200 million. His successful UFC career brings him wealth. His Forged Irish Stout business adds to it. He also has part ownership of BKFC, among other ventures. However, he is still not a billionaire, but does not seem to be giving up any time soon. ‘The Notorious’ hinted at his goals recently by sharing a video of Colonel Sanders, the founder of the global fast food chain KFC.
McGregor shared an Instagram reel in his story recently where 81-year-old Sanders was talking about selling KFC for $2 million back in 1964. In the video, the business mogul spoke about his story and said, “After I started franchising, I started franchising when I was 66 years old, now that’s an advantage again. Don’t quit till you are 65, cause you can do something quite worthwhile after that. So I sold out after 7 ½ years. This franchise I sold out for $2 million, not a lot of money, I see in the paper, the same company I sold for $2 million sold for $240 million yesterday?”
He expressed that he did regret selling KFC and was unhappy with the changes in original recopies and food quality. However when the reporter asked if he was done with his career, he flatly refused. Sanders said, “ Well I will be hopefully doing something cause I don’t believe in ever stopping cause you rust that brain son; quitting your warehouse. There’s always something to be done.”

Maybe this is the mantra that McGregor wants to take on. —not quitting because there is always something to be done. He did say in the past that he would like to continue fighting till he is 35. While speaking to Ariel Helwani, ‘Mystic Mac’ declared, “I’m gonna have a solid couple of years, though, I know that. I’ll be rocking ’til … 35.” Interestingly, that is exactly what he did! He was about 33 when he last fought inside the cage against Dustin Poirier back in 2021. Then came the Irishman’s setbacks due to the shin injury and surgery, after which he took time to recover, but he wanted to fight again.
His scheduled fight at UFC 303 got canceled. McGregor suffered a toe injury on the same leg where he had the surgery. So after 2021, he has not stepped foot inside the cage again. However, MacGregor is bringing those dollars for his billionaire dream anyway! He owns Forged Irish Stout and, apart from that, has a music label named Greenback Records. Meanwhile, he is also the part-owner of BKFC and is taking the promotion to places that even UFC has not been to. He recently announced that BKFC will be having an event in Australia after its success in Italy, Spain, and Dubai. So, how does he do it all? What’s his mantra for success?
Conor McGregor’s three-word motto for success
The former UFC dual champ might not be fighting right now inside the cage, but he does share training footage that keeps the hope alive in fans. It makes us feel that he might come back—besides, he still has two fights left in his UFC contract. However, the UFC head honcho seems like he is moving on. In a recent interview with Adam Glyn, Dana White admitted, “He’s not fighting anytime soon. I haven’t talked to him in a minute, but yeah, I don’t know.”
Meanwhile, McGregor hinted at his motto through an Instagram story in which he wrote, “Get in. Get rich. Get out,” a three-word mantra that sums up his mentality. He entered the UFC to build his stardom and show his prowess while gaining fortune along the way. Now, since he is already a millionaire and has steady businesses in place, it seems like he truly is done competing.
It seems like this three-word approach is exactly what pushed him to the top of Forbes’ highest-paid athletes list back in 2021. Back in 2013, the same year he made his UFC debut, McGregor posted on X: “I just want two gold belts, a jiu-jitsu black belt, a Hall of Fame plaque, and 25 million in the bank. Is that too much to ask? Gym time!!”
Fastrack to 2025? He already ticked off most of these boxes. Does he need to get back into the Octagon for money or fame now? Not really. Now he can only fight because he loves combat sports. With that being said, do you think the recent story about Colonel Sanders hints at McGregor’s comeback? After all, Sanders did say that ‘there is always something to be done.’ What do you think?
