Who doesn’t enjoy a bit of sweet, satisfying revenge? Everyone’s got their own way of dishing it out. But no one does it quite like Terence Crawford. The February 22 bout didn’t just showcase two modern-day gladiators going toe-to-toe. It also marked the final chapter in the drama Teofimo Lopez had been dragging around for months. Both fighters were in Riyadh for the Last Crescendo Fight, and Crawford didn’t waste a second making sure Lopez knew exactly who he was talking smack about. Despite the tension, it seemed like they were burying the hatchet by the end of it. But did they really?
For a little context, Teofimo Lopez had been pulling out bizarre and racial slanders against the WBO Interim Super Welterweight Champion for a long time. He did the same thing before Keyshawn Davis’ Valentine’s Fight Night against Denys Berinchyk. However, after what happened in Riyadh last night, nobody will hopefully see Teofimo Lopez pulling the same card in the name of “promotion” anymore.
Terence Crawford is not a bully. No?
“I had to have a talk with Teo before the fights. I’m not a bully, he good,” Terence Crawford posted on X. In the video, the 37-year-old was seen putting his arms across the WBO World Super Lightweight. “Tell them what you told me,” Crawford asked Lopez. “What you doing it for?” he questioned, referring to Teofimo Lopez’s racist remarks. And the answer? Simple. “Promotion, baby,” Lopez responded, suggesting a tactic to stir attention and hype up their potential fight.

Bud Crawford, seemingly satisfied with this answer, let Lopez off without further confrontation, affirming that he didn’t need to physically punish him for his actions. “I ain’t gotta f–k him up,” Crawford said, grinning. But Lopez was still hungry. He humorously added, “We should spar.”
Shakur Stevenson chimed in between. His comment read, “Nah .” It’s actually funny how the WBC Lightweight Champion couldn’t possibly unsee what he just saw.
Now that video sparked reactions in the boxing world. Crawford fans made sure to pull the 21-1 boxer in the dirt. Interestingly, the WBC World Lightweight Shakur Stevenson also joined the game.
Shakur Stevenson was dumbfounded as Terence Crawford’s ‘lil bros’ Lopez
The first comment came from Lopez himself. His comment read, “@terencecrawford best believe we definitely working once you in camp’ & the people could talk however you know what we’ve been on since the TopRank days alongside @BomacBrian.” The underlying message here is that, despite the previous tensions, The Takeover is signaling that he and Crawford are on the same side. And once Crawford enters the camp with his trainer Brian McIntyre, there may be a mutual exchange of training or support, especially given their shared history with Top Rank.
Seeing how Terence Crawford managed to humble him, one user sarcastically commented, “Why you lil bro him.”
One user further commented, “Teo soft. He folded super quick in person.” This comment highlights the fact that the 27-year-old was all talks before finally meeting the multiple world championships in four weight classes. If you don’t remember, last year after emerging victorious over Steve Claggett, Teofimo was asked who would prefer fighting first between Gervonta Davis and Terence Crawford. The 21-1 boxer without hesitating responded, “Whichever monkey wants to get the banana. They are gorillas. I’m a lion. I eat them.” Given that, the change in attitude was visible and fans wasted no time in pointing it out loud.
A similar comment to Stevenson’s read, “Naw ni–a I know a bully when I see one .” Another comment read, “He said he wanted to spar after saying he wanted to fight you in the ring for a couple of years . I’m happy there’s no drama and it’s all love lol. Teo gotta chill tho lol.” This comment was a humble reminder of what the 27-year-old stated last year. As he sat down with Top Rank Boxing, he clearly mentioned he wanted to square off against 3 different fighters from 3 different weight classes: Jaron Ennis (welterweight), Gervonta Davis(Lightweight), and Terence Crawford (Super Welterweight). So the transition from wanting a proper showdown to finally settling with a spar was too much to take for the user.
With that said, what do you think about the situation?
