Major Blow to Mike Tomlin as Justin Fields Predicted to Join Rival Franchise After Steelers Signed QB

Mike Tomlin is certainly navigating some tough waters at the moment. The Steelers are facing challenges with consistency, and it’s clear the pressure is mounting. It looks like he is putting forth his best efforts, but Tomlin hasn’t quite managed to steer the team back to their championship-contending ways. Each week that goes by, it feels like the opportunity for a strong playoff push is becoming a bit more distant. On top of that, there’s a new concern on the horizon: the possibility of losing another key player, which could really impact their future plans.

If reports are to be believed, Tomlin can lose one of the team’s best players this offseason: Justin Fields. On KDKA’s Sunday night #1 Cochran Sports Show, Mark Kaboly shared his thoughts on this: “I think I agree with him. I think Justin’s gonna find more money, more opportunity, a better place somewhere else.” That’s certainly a quick change in opinion from Kaboly as just a few days back he believed Fields might be the one to return to the Steelers, while Wilson will be looked at as “Plan B.” Hmmm, So why the sudden change?

Kaboly predicts Justin Fields will re-sign with another team in the offseason: “I think Justin’s gonna find more money, more opportunity, a better place somewhere else.” #Steelers #NFL

The biggest issue facing the Steelers is their quarterback situation for next season; will it be Wilson or Fields? Well, it all boils down to who Tomlin trusts more, and it turns out we have an answer to that. Jeremy Fowler did share a report which indicated that the Steelers HC, might just prefer Wilson a bit more. “Russell Wilson has made the Steelers a priority. He loved it there. he would like to be the quarterback there. Certainly, Mike Tomlin feels a commitment or loyalty to Wilson that could show over time here in the next couple of weeks.” Well, what does this mean for Fields?

This means that Fields can head to the Jets. Well, the Jets need someone to replace the outgoing Aaron Rodgers, and who better than Fields? The 25-year-old is one of the most sought-after names in the open market and well according to Jack McKessy, the Jets could look to get him in: “With veteran Aaron Rodgers out of the building, the Jets have a major need to fill at the game’s most important position. Fields is a nice fit in New York for a few reasons, with one of the biggest being a supporting cast he’d have around him.” Well, he isn’t wrong in that.

If Fields joins the Jets, he will play alongside Garrett Wilson, Tyler Conklin, and Breece Hall and well, if they click together, it could just solve all the Jets’ problems. Well, whether Tomlin lets Fields go is still unsure, but for now, they have parted ways with veteran DB.

Pittsburgh Steelers let Eric Rowe go

It’s time for a change for the Steelers this season! They’ve got that big cap room to work with, so it’s about time they make some big moves. Tomlin seems to be working on it and while he is focused on bringing in some fresh talent, it seems they’re also letting go of some veterans. Honestly, Eric Rowe hasn’t had the best run with the Steelers in the last couple of seasons, and he didn’t even get a chance to play this year. Well, now, at 32, he’s been let go by the team and has the opportunity to scout out a new contract somewhere else!

From his end though, Rowe did not want to leave the Steelers: “I’m taking to the Steelers, I’d love to go back. I like their culture up there if they want me back.” Well, the final call will be of the Steelers front office, but honestly, there are slim chances of Rowe being back with the Steelers next season.

The Steelers are definitely in for an interesting offseason, and Mike Tomlin has some big decisions to make. The quarterback situation is the biggest piece of the puzzle—if he’s leaning toward Wilson, that could mean Fields is on his way out, maybe even to the Jets. That would be a wild move, but honestly, it makes a lot of sense.

Meanwhile, Tomlin is already making roster changes, saying goodbye to veteran Eric Rowe. They’ve got cap space to work with, so now it’s all about making the right moves. One thing’s for sure—this team is at a turning point, and the next few weeks will tell us a lot about where they’re headed. The real question is, will Tomlin’s decisions bring the Steelers closer to contention or push them further away?
