Chiefs WR Marquise “Hollywood” Brown is at the threshold of transition! Currently, he is inching towards free agency in 2025, after he signed a one-year, $11 million deal with the Chiefs last year. While he was leveraged to become a key vertical threat for Patrick Mahomes’ offense, his sternoclavicular (SC) joint injury relegated him to the injured reserve (IR) list. As he navigated the ups and downs of the injury-shortened season, one thing that always helped him stay calm was his faith.
Once again, taking to his Instagram handle, @primetime_jet, Brown shared a powerful reflection. He shared a quote by @trustgodbro, which reads, “God’s timing is designed to teach you to trust.” Brown has left it upon God to guide his next steps. But, despite everything, he never fails to hype up his teammates.
As the Chiefs suffered a devastating Super Bowl loss, he tweeted, “proud of the guys, season I’ll never forget.” He shed light upon the uncertainty of his future, writing, “don’t know what the future holds but Thank you Jesus for the opportunity we had tonight .. BackToWork,” back on Feb 10, this year.

Brown’s faith in God remains undeterred, despite whatever he is going through. When his plans were derailed during the preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, he found his strength in God.
Even his post back in September 2024 also demonstrated his great faith in God. “Disappointed, frustrated, and sad was the first wave of emotions.” he wrote. ” Once I realized I would need surgery… but that only lasted a day or so because of my faith in God,” he mentioned further. He has the understanding that this too shall pass. He also believes that God may have other plans for him, which gives him a sense of stability.
Currently, it remains uncertain whether Kansas City will re-sign him and bring him back to Arrowhead or if he will need to find a new team in free agency. Besides the Chiefs, other teams like the Bills and Steelers are also emerging as prospective choices.
What’s next for Hollywood Brown?
The Chiefs’ offense struggled a great deal in the previous season. After Brown’s return from the injury, the Chiefs are now considering whether to resign him or let him go. Even if Brown is not among the top two wide receivers, he can still offer the efficiency to boost Kansas City’s offensive attack. However, the team’s salary cap constraints are also posing difficulties. Chiefs may, however, offer a short-term ‘prove-it’ deal, extending to two years, $18 million, if they decide to retain him.

As per the reports, other AFC rivals such as the Buffalo Bills are also keeping a keen eye on his availability, besides the Pittsburgh Steelers. If he joins the Bills, he may become a weapon to James Cook, while showing expertise in the short-to-intermediate passing game. After losing Stefon Diggs, they are looking to build their offense. On the other hand, if Pittsburgh loses George Pickens during the trade, Brown can be a solid addition to the team. Now, only time will tell what’s next for Brown in the free agency.
