KD and the Chef. Some may argue that they were a match made in heaven. With talks in the NBA circle, there is one question that has been resonating with the fans “Will Kevin Durant ever return to the Golden State Warriors?” The Bay Area is at the edge of their seats scrapping on any bit of hope they find to hold onto for an answer in the affirmative.
It wasn’t that long ago when the star veteran gave the team a new direction by partnering up with the Golden Trio of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson. The partnership with the Bay Area allowed for some major success for KD. However, it also created some major friction between him and Green. Therefore, several Warriors fans might believe that the bad taste stemming from that friction is what is preventing a reunion between Durant and the Bay Area franchise. If that is true, then Draymond Green just put that belief to the side.
The official Instagram account of ‘The Draymond Green Show’ recently highlighted a new post. It featured a screenshot of the upcoming episode, which should not have been too unusual. The only difference was that Green’s next guest is set to be Kevin Durant! While the duo have done side-by-side interviews earlier, and played countless games since Durant’s Warriors exit, the upcoming episode will mark the Suns legend’s first appearance on the show.

The fact that Kevin Durant and Draymond Green will be seen having an almost hour-long conversation is surreal. After all, the circumstances of Durant’s exit would still be fresh in the minds of many. After winning 2 championship titles with the Warriors, it felt as if Kevin Durant was set to be with the same team for the duration of his NBA career.
Unfortunately, behind the glamour of the championship-contending team was a growing animosity between Green and Durant. The same reached its height during a matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers. Green failed to secure a shot, forcing the game to go into overtime. This caused the ‘Slim Reaper’ to go off on his teammate. Green didn’t appreciate that and used Durant’s words to argue back. After he left the Warriors in 2019, KD never admitted to the friction being the primary reason for his exit. Still, it did not stop people from speculating.
Judging from the preview shared by Draymond Green, the past seems to be…. well, in the past. However, if Kevin Durant is willing to come on his former teammate’s show, he can take things one step further too, right? Maybe he can return to the team? This belief was openly displayed in the comments section.
NBA community calls for a Kevin Durant-Warriors reunion after interview reveal: “He coming home”
One social media user interpreted the review as something more than what it meant. Similarly to an art enthusiast. After all, he took to the comments section and wrote “He coming home”.
Well, not quite. Kevin Durant has not provided any indication that he will return to the Warriors. Only weeks ago, he did the opposite. Before the February Deadline period, the Golden State Warriors were in search of a major player who could improve their abysmal win record. Kevin Durant was on the list of players being considered. Stephen Curry even reportedly called him up to discuss the same. However, as Anthony Slater reported, whatever was discussed between the duo “convinced him a reunion was extremely unlikely, no matter how much the Golden State Warriors ownership group and front office collectively “underestimated” Durant’s coldness toward a return, as one team source put it.” In the end, the Warriors acquired Jimmy Butler from the Golden State Warriors. While the trade has yielded positive results till now, some people might still think about what could have been.
Despite the failed conversation between Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, people still hold hope. Or, they simply don’t care. Or, they must have not heard about the news. Nevertheless, the comments still came in, with one individual writing “Oh KD is def coming back in the off season”.
Prior to the February Trade deadline, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Kevin Durant “was not happy he was put into trade talks. I think it’s unpredictable what will happen for the next few months because it’s the nature of the sport, but I think right now it is reasonable to forecast that Durant will be breaking up with the Suns in the summer”. The unpredictable factor was certainly seen this trade season, as seen by Luka Doncic’s trade. Durant’s reported unhappiness showed that he has no intention of leaving the Phoenix Suns. However, if he was forced out, there isn’t anything one can do.

One social media user used the preview to take a dig at the rumors he/she was hearing. They did so by writing “And people said kd hate draymond lol (crying emojis)”.
Since Kevin Durant left the Golden State Warriors, things have reportedly improved between the duo. Back in December 2024, Green revealed “I saw KD in the offseason, and we chopped it up, and man to man, face to face, we chopped it up. Told him how I felt, he told me how he felt, and he was like, damn, I didn’t think it would be seen that way, I didn’t think it would be taken that way, and we talked about it”. This reconciliation has now resulted in the Suns star appearing on Green’s show.
Another individual asked in the comments section “KD coming back???”. One can never say what the future holds. Kevin Durant is 36 years of age and may want to spend his remaining years with the same team. At the same time, the current Suns squad has not proven themselves to be a championship-contending team. The team currently holds the 11th seed on the Western Conference chart.
Whether it would be a discussion about their feud, or the NBA as a whole, there is no denying that the upcoming episode would be a must-watch. Therefore, one individual wrote, “Boy this tea finna be hot (laughing emojis)”. It surely will be!
Overall, the majority of reactions fully endorsed Kevin Durant’s reunion with Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors. As specified, there is no indication to prove that the same will happen. Therefore, all one can do now is just enjoy the upcoming episode.
