Okay, the most David Fincher kinda plot twist just happened, folks. You know how Mike McCarthy was shown the way out of the Dallas Cowboys‘ building recently, right? Well, Jerry Jones was like Usain Bolt with his decision and already gave the crown to someone else. And he didn’t even look far ahead because the new HC of the Cowboys is Brian Schottenheimer. No, you’re not reading it wrong. The offensive coordinator, who was under Mike’s shadow for years, went ahead and got the gig. An absolute shocker, ain’t it? It’s literally the talk of the town right now, as many consider this one of the riskiest moves a team has ever made.
For a team that just went 7-10, you’d think Jerry would’ve bet his money on someone with way more head coaching experience. But hey, maybe it won’t be that bad. Quandre Diggs, who worked with Brian Schottenheimer back in Seattle, has been pretty vocal about it recently. On the latest episode of the DLLS Cowboys podcast, the host asked him about Brian’s discipline. “I mean, he did address those things on Mondays. Offensive, penalties, things like that. He addressed them in a meeting in front of everybody. That was from Russ to DK to Tyler Lockett to Chris Carson to different things like that—fumbles, holdings. He addressed all those things, and guys understood it.”
