Cowboys Legend Troy Aikman Reveals Coaching Adventure After ESPN Analyst’s Confession on NFL Criticism

“Don’t be afraid to fail. Be afraid not to try.” Troy Aikman has lived by these words throughout his career, and now, he’s embracing a new challenge—coaching. Well, at a recent NFL event, the Hall of Famer stepped onto the field, not as a player, but as a mentor to young athletes. Aikman coached some young students at the NFL’s financial football event and that has raised a question—could this be the start of a coaching career for Aikman?

Well, the Cowboys legend’s resume and experience show he could be a great coach, and the good part is that he clearly loved the job. Aikman took to Instagram to share his experience: “Had a blast coaching the amazing students from Connolly Middle School at Visa’s NFL Financial Football event at the ABA Conference for Community Bankers. Thanks to @Visa_US for helping to inspire the next generation”. Just imagine, how exciting it would be to see him at AT&T Stadium leading the Cowboys once again, just this time from the sidelines.

With his leadership, experience, and passion for teaching, could we see Aikman on the sidelines in a more permanent role? Well, it certainly would be exciting to see. For now, though, Aikman seems content working as an analyst and well, the 3x Super Bowl winner doesn’t back down from sharing his unfiltered thoughts. For one, he has always been critical of any officiating ‘blunders’ that happen and interestingly has never received any blowback from the league. “I’ve never heard from the league.” That’s unexpected, right?

Just a couple of seasons ago, after a questionable call, Aikman famously said, “My hope is the competition committee looks at this and we take the dresses off”. I mean, if after this comment Aikman hasn’t heard from the league, well then that’s saying something, right? And it’s not that Aikman is not aware of how difficult a job the officials have, he accepts that, but has always believed “we owe it to the fans,” to make the right call at all times.

It will be very interesting to see if Aikman trades the broadcast booth for a coaching headset. Well, whatever happens, one thing’s for sure—whether on the sidelines or in the booth, Aikman will surely never be afraid to speak his mind.

Troy Aikman is not happy with the Cowboys

Is there anyone associated with the Cowboys, who has been happy with their performance? It can be tough to see things this way! Many fans understandably feel disappointed with the team’s performance during the post-season. After all, it’s been nearly 30 years since the Cowboys clinched their last Super Bowl victory—something that feels a bit out of step for such a storied franchise!

Aikman was among the many who showcased his disappointment about this: “I speak for the Cowboys faithful in saying that, you know, it’s been a long time, and this is the Dallas Cowboys, and it’s an organization that’s had a great history, and this team has won a lot of games over the years with a lot of different players, but for whatever reasons, they just haven’t been able to get it done in the postseason. But I don’t think anybody’s happy about that, that that’s been a part of the Cowboys’ legacy and what this franchise has stood for for so many years.”

You know, he’s got a point, right? The Cowboys really do well in the regular season, but the playoffs? Not so much. I mean, Jerry Jones and his team try hard to build solid rosters, yet they keep underperforming when it really counts. Every year, they head into the postseason expecting to go far, but somehow they just end up leaving early. Honestly, with their “selectively aggressive” approach this offseason, it feels like not much will change this year—what a bummer!

Everyone is just really curious about what the Cowboys will do next. They’ve got a bunch of issues to sort out. Maybe they can tap into Aikman’s new coaching vibe—who knows? Whatever happens, Jones and his crew need to make some calls, and they need to do it soon!
