Mallika Andrews Admits Being Upset With Richard Jefferson As ESPN Crew Execute Viral Instagram Trend in Studios

‘We listen and we don’t judge’. Have you tried out that Instagram trend yet? Well, if you do so, you have to engage in it at your own risk. After all, you will have to reveal some inner truths and secrets that you might have carried otherwise with yourself only. The trend is better to do with someone who you have known for a while. Well, having been in ESPN since 2018, Malika Andrews has known her co-hosts for quite a while. Now, it was time for them to get to each other in a better manner and, at the same time, make some ‘bitter’ truths public.

The trio of Richard Jefferson, Malika Andrews, and Chiney Ogwumike recently highlighted a video through their official Instagram accounts. It featured all 3 of them, including Kendrick Perkins, participating in the ‘We listen and we don’t judge’ trend. Malika went first. She revealed that she pretends not to be upset (but is) that the former player doesn’t follow her on Instagram. To add insult to the ‘injury’, Jefferson even follows Malika’s mother, just not her.

To be fair, Richard Jefferson only follows 69 people on Instagram, so there are lots of people in his known circle who he does not keep in touch with. Malika Andrews is not like that. While she boasts over 577,000 followers on Instagram, she also follows 988 other users. They vary from basketball stars like Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu to politicians like Barack Obama and Kamala Harris.

Furthermore, she follows all of her other 3 trend participants, including other ESPN personalities like Stephen A. Smith and Brian Windhorst. We don’t know how Andrews caught her co-worker. However, when she did, she wanted to use the fun trend to call him out. Perhaps, in the coming days, we see Jefferson’s ‘following count’ increase to 70, with Malika Andrews’ name visible on his list.

If you thought that this was the biggest revelation to come out from the ESPN crew trying the viral Instagram trend, then buckle up, because you are in for quite a surprise. Just like Malika Andrews, Richard Jefferson, Chiney Ogwumike, and Kendrick Perkins were.

What did the viral Instagram trend reveal to Malika Andrews and the ESPN crew?

Chiney took things a bit personal in regards to her bond with Richard Jefferson. She revealed, “I fake it every time when it comes to listening to Richard’s podcast. I have never listened to it”. Having been working in television broadcasting since October 2018, Richard Jefferson has spent years cultivating his reputation. His on-screen talent and analysis even allowed him to be announced as one of the three broadcasters, alongside Mike Breen and Doris Burke, to call out the 2025 NBA Finals.

The biggest revelation of the video, however, came from Kendrick Perkins. Without giving any warning of where he was headed, Perkins straight out said “Chiney, I have been using your deodorant for the last two years”. That wouldn’t have been too shocking if Malika hadn’t added with a laugh, “Me too”. The four people faced difficulty in just controlling their laughter. It certainly did not help when Jefferson added, “Wait wait, all 4 of us have been using the same deodorant?” Yikes!

Fortunately, Chiney got her comeback after she revealed “Perk, we always have soda in the machine. I just tell you we run out of them”. The ‘death stare’ from the former Boston Celtics player was enough to get the other 3 to silently laugh.

Such bonding moments are what make the crew over at ESPN great. Just like the TNT crew, they aren’t restricted by their professional work and choose to have some fun behind the scenes.
