After Getting “Hurt” by Zaya’s Tik Tok Claim, Gabrielle Union Defends Husband Dwyane Wade

Dwyane Wade‘s daughter, Zaya, added yet another star to her already bright resume. She is on the cover page of Seventeen, one of the most prestigious and longest-running magazines for teens. From watching the famous TV series Heartstopper with her father, D-Wade, to her dreams of becoming a scientist, the 17-year-old opened up about several lesser-known life stories. However, one detail left her stepmother “hurt.”

We might say this claim clearly shows it’s hard to please teenagers these days. Or is there something to it?

The Bring It On actress was completely unaware until Zaya mentioned in her interview that she finds Union’s TikTok videos cringey. Ouch! In her interview at the New York premiere of Riff Raff, the actress shared that Zaya had not told the family about her Seventeen interviews. When the magazine came out, Union remained excited until the TikTok comment.

“She doesn’t tell us all the things that she’s doing (Zaya has a calm reaction). It’s a very big deal, and I thought it was really awesome until I read the part about her not liking my TikTok dances, and I mean, it hurt!” Union declared. Is it time for Zaya to help Union up her social media game, or does Gabrielle really have a cringe taste?

In another interview with Grae Drake, she revealed she had been trying hard to convince her co-star Ed Harris to make a TikTok video with her, but he declined.

And then this happened. “I was trying to force it out of him um because I really wanted him to do Tik Tok dances with me but turns out my child, my older daughter Zaya put it in a cover story for Seventeen magazine that she finds my Tik Tok dancing cringe and is like wishes she could text me girl and here I am trying to make Ed Harris join my cringe dancing and thank God for Ed he was like ‘no girl,’” Union shared.

Well, most kids feel their parents make cringe content.

While Zaya might have teased Union, the actress handled the conversation with equal humor. There was another detail Zaya shared about her father, not just Union.

Gabrielle Union and Zaya Wade defend Dwyane Wade

Previously, in the interview for Seventeen, Zaya revealed how Wade, who has quite a strong and tough appearance, ended up intimidating her partners. Although, my dad…he tries to scare any person I have interest in. He’s kind of intimidating. The people I’ve dated have all been afraid of him in the first interaction. He’s gigantic, and he has this deep, booming voice,” Zaya shared.

Zaya quickly added that this act doesn’t stretch longer since Wade is one of the sweetest people. “But the facade only lasts for so long, and you actually see his real personality. He’s a teddy bear,” Zaya declared. The interviewer asked the same question to Union, and she, too, replied similarly.

“He’s got the deep voice and you know and he’s so tall he looks like Shrek to most people,” Union said at first. The 3x NBA champ might have done it unintentionally. And just like Zaya, Union explained, “He (has) an intimidating presence until you know he starts to smile and talk and you’re like oh you’re okay.”

In her interviews, the actress has always mentioned how she and Wade are super proud of their daughter. Zaya is already making a great impact.
