How Long Is Kyrie Irving Out For? All Details on Mavs Star’s Recovery Time After Brutal ACL Injury

Sometimes, the game delivers moments that hit harder than any buzzer-beater. For Kyrie Irving, it wasn’t about the points on the board or the highlight reels on Monday—it was something far more unsettling. As fans held their breath at AAC, hoping for the best, the echoes of concern lingered long after the final whistle. Something felt different this time, and the road ahead may be tougher than anyone expected.

Truly nothing can ever prepare you for the heartbreak an injury report brings. But Tuesday brought with itself horrible, horrible news. And guess who delivered it? Of course, ESPN’s senior NBA insider, Shams Charania. He informed the basketball fans that Kyrie Irving was diagnosed with a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

In the first quarter, a routine drive turned tense for Kai. As he attacked the basket, his right knee collided with Kings center Jonas Valanciunas. But the real concern came moments later. His left leg stretched awkwardly and seemed to hyperextend on impact. Still, in true warrior fashion, Irving stayed on the floor. He even returned to the line, sinking his free throws despite the visible discomfort. After taking (and making) both free throws, Anthony Davis helped Irving to the locker room.

And as many medical experts were predicting, the fears turned into reality for the Dallas Mavericks. First, they lost Luka Doncic to a trade, then they lost Anthony Davis and Daniel Gafford to injuries. And now this? Kyrie Irving’s ACL tear is enough to bring tears to the fans who cheered “MVP! MVP!” when the 32-YO stood tall amidst his pain while taking the FTs. Now the question is: When will Kyrie return to the floor and spread his magic?

This is a developing story…
