Garrett Nussmeier might have had a terrific 2024 run at Baton Rouge, but to say LSU didn’t cut any corners would be a lie. It was all good till you saw Nussmeier choking rather easy passes and ending up going 27-16 against a lukewarm Florida team. So, where does Brian Kelly go from here? And what future awaits Garrett Nussmeier? These are questions that have been plaguing our minds, and honestly, with all the offense changes that Kelly has done – While it might seem like the Tigers’ head coach has answered our doubts, the reality couldn’t be further from the truth.
“This offensive line has got to keep Garrett Nussmeier upright, and they gotta get running lanes for Caden Durham in this running game,” Matt Moscona points out. At the crux of it, Kelly has completely altered the offensive strength. In simple terms: You get talent like Barion Brown, Nic Anderson, and Aaron Anderson ready to start at WR and Harlem Berry on RB. Now, what does this mean for the future of Tigers football? And their 2025 conquest? Well, “openings”.
This spring practice will act as a testing ground for this remade offense and for Kelly to understand what Nussmeier needs. You have to get this guy someone to throw at, or else you will be handed another set of 12 interceptions on a silver platter.
We know that Caden Durham is going to be enormous this season. He already locked in 1000+ yards last season, and his 2nd year is making us excited. If you open up routes for this guy and Nussmeier connects, then Kelly could be on his way for LSU’s natty run.

So when you look to why there’s optimism around for LSU…” – As JD Pickell notes, there is hope for Baton Rouge’s best, and who knows, maybe we’ll see Nuss in New York as well?
Paul Finebaum takes his pick
As much as Finebaum loves bashing programs, once in a while, you do get a solid take from him. “I think (Garrett) Nussmeier, assuming that LSU can overall do its part, I think Nussmeier very well could be in New York,” Paul Finebaum had pointed out.
If we are to go off of 2024 alone, yes, Nuss has the potential. Despite the interception and completion problems, LSU still won 8 major games – Notably, the win against a dangerous Ole Miss team. All in all, 2025 could be the “make or break” year for LSU’s QB1.
Will we see the turnover problems come back to haunt him? Or will the Tigers finally roar and rebuild their dynasty?
