Kurt Busch Ditches MLB & NFL Super-Celebs to Unexpectedly Wish for Lionel Messi’s Life

The Busch family is rounding up for some action now. Kurt Busch is looking forward to joing Kyle and Brexton for something interesting. It seems like some old fashioned fun, not like the one he did in August 2024 though. But, now, that case is off the sheets with him being supervised probation for a year, a $500 fine, and a 50-hours community service. If you have lived under the rock long enough to not know why Kurt has to go through this hell of a treatment, let us enlighten you.

In August 2024, Kurt Busch got pulled over in Iredell County, North Carolina, for speeding—63 mph in a 45 mph zone—and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Early this year, he said he was guilty of the DWI charge and, well, you know the verdict. Now that he is back, and looks in better shape, he is diverting his time and attention to important things: family, racing, and his love for sports. But, in a recent interview with Instagram Handle ‘Man of Many’, the racer opened up about his current preferences.

Kurt Busch is in awe of Messi’s charisma

Lately, Kurt Busch has been in the news for some tough moments and big comebacks.  On the racing side, things are looking up. Kurt retired from full-time NASCAR in August 2023 after a bad crash at Pocono Raceway in July 2022 left him with concussion issues. But in late February 2025, doctors gave him the green light to race again. Now, he’s excited to hit track at the Race of Champions (ROC) in Sydney, Australia, on March 7-8, 2025, with Travis Pastrana for Team USA.

A shocker came when he was asked about who’d he swap lives with. Not a football or baseball star. “You know, in America, soccer is growing. It’s not as well known. We have so many NFL games and Major League Baseball. I guess I’d be a soccer guy. I would exchange it with Messi,” he said. “Yeah, yeah. I just love his charisma and his character out on the field.” Yep, Lionel Messi’s the one and Kurt Busch loves his vibe!

Kurt’s been posting on X about getting ready at zMAX Dragway and having fun in Sydney like climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and checking out the zoo. He hopes this race could lead to more, maybe even cool sports car events he’s always dreamed of. Since stepping back from racing full-time, he’s been helping out at 23XI Racing, the team owned by Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan.

Denny Hamlin, who’s still racing for Joe Gibbs Racing while co-owning 23XI, can’t say enough about Kurt’s help. In a 2023 chat with the Kansas City Star, he said, “I’ve got Kurt in those guys’ ears, talking like a veteran and keeping them aware of things they can do better, week in and week out. He’s a huge asset to our team. He shows up to practices. He shows up to our debriefs.” Hamlin added, “If he can just bring one thought or idea to our drivers in a weekend of something that he sees from the outside, then he’s worth his weight in gold to us.” That’s high praise from a guy who’s won the Daytona 500 three times himself.

Even with all this going on, Kurt’s still the same fun guy fans love. When asked what movie car he’d drive for a week, he didn’t miss a beat. “Herbie. Herbie the Love Bug. I actually have a Volkswagen Bug,” he said. He’s got his own Bug at home, just like that little car with a big heart from the movies.

Kurt’s been through a lot, but he’s back with big dreams with Herbie, Messi, and all!

Kurt Busch Responds to Kyle’s Teaser: A Family Race Is Coming

Kurt Busch is excited about racing his brother Kyle and nephew Brexton. He won the NASCAR Cup Series in 2004 and has 34 career wins. He retired from full-time racing in 2022. Kyle, a two-time champ, is still competing and teaching Brexton to race. Brexton’s already good—he won big at this year’s Tulsa Shootout. The Instagram video showed him driving fast, and now fans are wondering when the three Buschs will race each other.

On March 5, 2025, Kyle posted on Instagram about a “Battle of the Buschs.” It included a video of Brexton racing at Caraway Speedway. Kurt commented, “I’m on my way!” He remembered the ‘90s when he, Kyle, and their dad, Tom, raced together. He said their mom wasn’t thrilled about it back then. People are talking about what this could be. Maybe a fun one-time race, or maybe Brexton’s the start of a new Busch racing family tradition.

Kurt seems ready to get back on the track and take on Kyle and Brexton. Fans like the idea of Kurt’s experience going up against Kyle’s skills and Brexton’s young talent. The Busch family has a big history in NASCAR. Kurt and Kyle have been stars for years, and Brexton’s showing he might follow them.

No one knows when or where this race will happen, but it’s got fans excited. A “Battle of the Buschs” with three generations would be something special to watch.
