LIV Golf Pro Boldly Copies Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry’s Controversial Celebration After Unreal Breakthrough at Fanling

The greatest of achievements call for the greatest celebration off the course. Well, a certain celebratory way similar to Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry has been followed by a LIV Golfer, too. Earlier at Pebble Beach Pro Am, the Irishman duo claimed aces with their performance. First, McIlroy recorded a hole in one on the 15th hole at Spyglass Hills, while later, Lowry also recorded an ace on the par-3 seventh at Pebble Beach.

The significant achievement of the duo called for a celebration by serving pizza and beers for the entire CGM. However, on social media, the celebration caught negative attention for the preference of beers. A post on X from a LIV Golf Insider surfaced: “Rory McIlroy and Shawn Lowry chose the four worst beers on the planet to serve the media after their Hole-in-Ones at Pebble Beach today.” The post even got backlash from fans.

Well, now, a few weeks later, a similar feat has been chased by LIV Golfer Mito Pereira. The Chilean professional on the second hole recorded a one-bounce ace in the second round of LIV Golf Hong Kong. After the shot, his fellow players cheered and praised him in the crowd, calling for a celebration. With his performance, he is currently placed at T4 with under-8 scored, while the leaders Peter Uihlein, Paul Casey, and Sergio Garcia are at T1 with under-11.

It’s not only the celebration on the course that has caught everyone’s eyes, but it’s also being celebrated off the course. Mike McAllister, Editorial Director at LIV Golf, has shared an update with the celebration post. He wrote on X, “Thanks, Mito!” The post also had a photo where the poster wrote, ‘This round is on Mito Pereira’ and had several spirits, including beers and champagne.

Despite the criticism of the PGA Tour professionals, LIV golfers have followed the same ritual. However, LIV Golf has had wild celebrations in the past, which can’t be ignored either.

“Watering Hole” celebration in LIV Golf Adelaide

An ace is the greatest achievement a golfer can achieve, and with the achievement, not just the golfer but the entire course celebrates. Even though, at the PGA Tour celebrations, they are more focused on cheering and clapping. LIV Golf had a wilder approach to it at the biggest event of the schedule, i.e., LIV Golf Adelaide.

A few weeks ago, in February, Patrick Reed achieved an ace at the 12th hole at the Grange Golf Club. After Reed shot the ball, the cheering started as the ball landed a couple of yards away from the cup. And as the ball started to turn towards the cup, the crowd’s loud cheering was the sign of a big achievement. The impressive feat was celebrated by throwing beer glasses on the course at the golfer as part of the celebration. The wild-wild celebration was also known in the history as “Watering Hole.”

Even in the past, Chase Koepka observed the same feat when he made a hole in one in 2023. The golfer said, “I smelled like beer the whole entire rest of the day.” However, now the celebration might have gotten a little subtle. Did you witness the great ace by the golfer? Will there be any ace at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, too? What are your thoughts on it? Share with us in the comments below.
