After 32 Years, Hideki Matsuyama Earns the Same Tribute Once Given to Jack Nicklaus

The 1993 Lincoln Town Car Jack Nicklaus Edition – now that’s a blast from the past! This special edition car was inspired by the legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, aka “The Golden Bear.” Only 7,700 units were produced, and one of them has been sitting parked for about a decade. Despite its fading Green Metallic paint and yellowed white droptop, the car still has its original interior, complete with white leather seats and green accents. The craziest part? When car rebuild expert Randy Shear tried to start the engine, it fired up right away!

It’s amazing to think that this car was once a symbol of Nicklaus’s enduring legacy, and now it’s just a relic of the past. But, as they say, “what’s old is new again.” Fast forward 32 years, and another golfer is getting the same tribute. Say hello to the Lexus LX700h Hideki Matsuyama Edition! This exclusive model is a nod to the Japanese professional golfer’s impressive skills on the green. And, just like the Nicklaus Edition before it, this car is a real showstopper.

The LX700h Hideki Matsuyama Edition features a unique Manganese Luster paint job, chosen by Matsuyama himself, along with 22-inch black forged alloy wheels and a luxurious white semi-aniline leather interior with yellow stitching. It comes with some amazing exclusive features, including a replica of Matsuyama’s golf bag and a Mark Levinson audio system.

Under the hood, the LX700h Hideki Matsuyama Edition packs a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine, paired with an electric motor/generator, producing a combined 457 hp. With a price tag of ¥17,000,000 ($114,900), this car is definitely a luxury item. But, if you’re a golf enthusiast or just a car lover, it’s worth checking out.

As we saw earlier with Hideki Matsuyama‘s special edition Lexus, golfers often have a special affinity for cars. Some even keep 12-garage mansions but for Maverick McNealy his connection to the auto industry runs deeper than just a sponsorship deal.

Maverick McNealy’s unique tie to the auto industry

Maverick McNealy‘s family’s ties to the innovative spirit of the Detroit auto industry and cars go way back. McNealy’s grandfather, Raymond William McNealy Jr., was vice chairman of American Motors, and his dad, Scott, claims he named Maverick after the Ford Maverick sedan.

McNealy’s love for Fords is evident in his own car history. He’s only had two cars in his life – a hand-me-down 2011 Ford Explorer in college and a 2021 Ford Explorer SC he bought himself after earning his PGA Tour card. Now, he’s taken his passion to the next level by signing an endorsement deal with Ford Motors. As part of the program, McNealy will drive select Ford vehicles at different PGA Tour stops and carry a customized Ford Maverick yardage book in his back pocket.

For McNealy, being a Ford ambassador is a natural fit. “I’ve always driven Fords, my whole family drives Fords, and it’s really cool now to be a Ford ambassador because it couldn’t be more who I am and what I like to drive,” he said. It’s a partnership that’s been years in the making, and McNealy’s agent, Peter Webb, is thrilled to have finally made it happen. With his yellow Ford Mustang already turning heads on the PGA Tour circuit, it’s clear that McNealy is ready to take his love for Fords to the next level.
