Three names have carved their place into the pantheon of mixed martial arts immortality: Jon Jones, Georges St-Pierre, and Conor McGregor. As these titans cast long shadows across the Octagon’s canvas with their record-breaking title fight wins and defenses, it’s the brash Irishman who refuses to stand in anyone’s silhouette. While Jones and St-Pierre have defined a generation of long-reigning champions at 205lbs and 170lbs respectively with a combination of wrestling and veteran IQ, the former double champ has always preferred a different artistic medium: unconscious bodies and highlight-reel finishes!
“My record in mixed martial arts competitions is 19 wins and one loss,” McGregor said in an interview with ESPN in 2021. “I only count knockouts…The only thing that is definitive in this business is a knockout. All the other stuff – the decisions, the points – it all means nothing to me. I’m coming to take a man’s head off.”
And in 2025, the Dubliner once again took to his Instagram stories with the statistical dagger aimed at his fellow legends. With venomous pride, McGregor shared that his 19 career knockouts single-handedly equal the combined knockout total of both Jones and St-Pierre.
The message beneath the numbers was clear: while they may have championship gold and spotless records, neither could match his ability to separate opponents from their senses. Conor McGregor’s recent Instagram story highlighting his knockout record is just one of the many accolades in his storied MMA career.

The former double champ has achieved several feats in the UFC that set him apart from the rest. Let’s take a closer look at the milestones that only McGregor has accomplished inside the Octagon.
The mind-boggling accolades of Conor McGregor
Until 2024, when UFC 306 was held at the Sphere in Las Vegas, Conor McGregor held the record for the highest gate collection with his UFC 205 headlining PPV which brought in nearly $17.7 million. While that now belongs to the Sean O’Malley vs Merab Dvalishvili title headliner card, the one record that nobody can take away from McGregor is his status as the first simultaneous two-division UFC kingpin champion, which also happened at the promotion’s first-ever event in New York.
Not only in MMA, but Conor McGregor also made waves in boxing as well. And that too with just one professional fight on his record! For Floyd Mayweather‘s 50th and final pro fight, he decided to take on ‘The Notorious’, and guess what? The event was a grand success. Not only did the Irishman make over $100 million, at least, reportedly, but the event also stands as the second big one when it comes to the number of PPV buys, which stands at 4.3 million. The Mayweather vs McGregor fight is second only to ‘Money’s big-time clash against Manny Pacquiao.

Moreover, ‘The Notorious’ was also able to emulate this record inside the Octagon. His grudge fight and storied rivalry against Khabib Nurmagomedov resulted in UFC 229 being the best-selling PPV in the company’s history with 2.4 million buys. Additionally, these accolades have also translated well into his bank account with the Irishman easily becoming Dana White’s golden goose and raking in over $39.4 million throughout his UFC career.
It’s safe to say that no other UFC fighter has come close to making the kind of impact he has on combat sports in general, even though his fighting days seem to be over. But do you think there’s anybody who can surpass the stardom of McGregor? Drop your comments below.
