Deion Sanders’ Promise to 49ers Legend’s Son Who Challenges His Astonishing 225lb Feat

Deion Sanders doesn’t joke around with his ‘Coach Prime’ moniker. College football fans, hopeful and emerging players know what it means to have a career shaped by this man. With Sanders at the helm of the Colorado Buffaloes, he has produced lucrative NFL draft talents like Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. So, when Coach Prime sets his eyes on someone, he knows the kind of game they’d bring to the table.

Despite being new to the coaching scene, Deion Sanders is a name that adds astronomical weight to any team he’s in charge of. USA Today says players have “flocked” to him while coaching at Jackson State and then Colorado. Travis Hunter switched to the latter after Sanders made the move. He has the Heisman trophy to his name, and Shedeur Sanders is a popular favorite to be a top 5 pick in the upcoming NFL draft. So it goes without saying: Deion Sanders is a man who can make brilliant careers out of the right talent.

This time, the potential talent in question is Anthony Adams III. Sanders promised his father, Anthony Adams, that he would have a spot reserved for him at Colorado Boulder. Why, you ask? It’s because the veteran 49ers’ son can match up to Sanders when it comes to the bench press. The latter shared a video from a visit to Shilo Sanders’ NFL Combine training, where he benched 225 lbs with ease.

Coach Prime was taking a dig at his son before he casually got on to lifting 225 pounds. “How do you think you got here? By being weak, you got here? My game is strong.” He did a few reps and got off the bench with a smile. “I just wanted to see what it was.” He made 57 look like a prime age, too, at that.

Adams remarked that his son can also do the same number “a bunch of times.” Sanders then wrote in a reply, “he’s getting an offer when I see him.” Not only does Adams III have his father’s legacy to continue, but he now has the backing of another NFL great. With Coach Prime’s offer, the young man’s career has already begun to take flight.

Anthony ‘Spice’ Adams is an NFL veteran with a career spanning nine years. He was picked by the 49ers in 2003 but played for the Chicago Bears for six seasons from 2006. Adams and Sanders have both played for the 49ers. The former is thirteen years junior to Coach Prime and undoubtedly looks up to him.

The plan is yet to be set in motion, as the younger Adams is still in his junior year at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire, Illinois. He plays as a Defensive End for the school football team, the Stevenson Patriots. The Chicago Tribune calls him one of the most “disruptive defenders” of the area. By the time of the 2024 IHSA Class 8A quarterfinals, Adams III had recorded 61 tackles. Ever the dutiful father, the senior Adams also guides him in the team as a volunteer assistant coach.

At nearly 6” and weighing 250 lbs, his physique bodes well for his team. “His size, speed and athleticism make him a real matchup problem for a lot of teams,” head coach Brent Becker told The Chicago Tribune. “I’m glad he’s on our side.”

Shilo Sanders refuses to believe Coach Prime’s Combine heroics

Sanders seemed to be in a challenging mood as well, as he promised another gift to his son if he completed one. Shilo, unlike his brother Shedeur, is not that high on the preference list of franchises. He even missed out on an invite to Indiana and is leaving no stone unturned to get a good spot on Pro Day. But before that, Shilo has to clock in 4.4 seconds at the 40-yard dash.

In the same meeting with his father, Shilo joked about there being no evidence of the former recording 4.27 seconds at the same test. Sanders, in return, showed why he doesn’t need one. “Did Picasso learn to paint?” he retorted. As Shilo looks to finish the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, Sanders said enthusiastically, “Let’s do it. If you run a 4.4, I’ll buy you a new car.”

And like that, we know Sanders isn’t backing down from that one. Like Shilo could be destined for a brand new ride as his prize, perhaps Adams III could also be set for a glorious road ahead under the shadow of Coach Prime.
