More Upsetting News for Shedeur Sanders as Cam Ward’s Stock Affects Coach Prime’s Son After $7.6B NFL Franchise’s Unexpected Move

Despite the need for a quarterback at the top of the 2025 NFL Draft, Colorado’s star quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, faces a dilemma in his stock. Coach Prime’s son has been one of the most talked-about entities in the draft season. Following his standout final season at Boulder, Shedeur turned heads as a potential top 5 pick at the draft. It was all good, even amidst his legendary dad’s over-influence theory, but the decision not to throw during the Combine day seems to have backfired. If you still don’t believe it, here’s some Cam Ward stock intel for you that passively indicates the unanticipated fall of the junior Sanders.

Sanders’ NFL combine gestures have highly been in the discussion right now, with many citing his alleged co–iness as the very reason for his stock downfall. An anonymous quarterback coach already expressed his disgust and concern over drafting a player with such a level of financial security, an esteemed bloodline, and the vanity that comes with it. Visibly, Shedeur Sanders seems nowhere in the first-projected picks.

Shedeur’s something second-round, late first, feels holding it at the third pick overall. I went backfield, and Greeny, my mock 1.0, a major mock, not a mini mock; the whole mock right. January 22nd was exactly like Fields is in terms of the top five picks right now,” Mel Kiper said during the March 13th ESPN show, dropping concerning news for the Colorado quarterback.
The Tennessee Titans are scheduled to meet face-to-face with Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders for an NFL draft visit on Monday, just days after meeting with Miami quarterback Cam Ward. But they don’t deem him a potential pick anymore. The Titans look to go with Ward. Post-combine shake-up, you can say! The number 1 position has always called for a toss between Sanders and Ward.

But there was a reason why the analysts initially didn’t consider Cam as the Titans pick. As per Mel Kiper, “Is Cam Ward a generational talent? I don’t think so; is it Abdul Carter or Travis Hunter? I would say they are, for sure. We said generational talent. It won’t be Cam Ward.” However, to Kiper’s surprise, Field Yates has Cam Ward at No. 1 to Tennessee. The obvious question? Why?
”Chad Brinker, who is the team president in Tennessee, and I think the question was basically, hey sort of give us a little bit of an insight into your first overall pick plans, understanding the quarterback is a need. I think he said something to the effect of, Hey, we’re not going to bypass a generational talent. So, people immediately said, ‘Oh well, does that mean they don’t view the quarterbacks in that light?’ So, instead, they are going to put a position, whether it’s wide receiver, cornerback, or pass-rusher, ahead of quarterback, even if that player, like at peak value, does not represent the same value that a franchise quarterback does,” Field Yates said.
While this is all true, and the Titans GM did say they’re after a generational talent, what complicates this is their current QB room. “I think the Titans, with Will Levis as the only quarterback under contract as of this conversation, have kind of shown their hands here; it is going to be Cam Ward number one overall,” Field Yates said.
Moving to the present update of their respective stocks, as per the ESPN point of view, Cam Ward stands out as the number 1 pick. A five-year-long career and excellent arm strength and athletic ability seem to be the biggest flex for the Miami poster boy.
Coming back to Shedeur Sanders, the late first round is also slipping out of his hand for his current draft position. He is probably a 26th pick, belonging to the $7.6 billion Los Angeles Rams. BS Sports Ryan Wilson sees him as a fit for the Rams after all; Matthew Stafford is not going to play forever. On the other hand, the Seattle Seahawks’ decision to trade for Sam Darnold, allowing Geno Smith to land in the $7.6 billion Las Vegas Raiders, directly affected Shedeur’s presumed landing spot. Most mock drafts had Sanders joining the Raiders at #6, but now that looks like a far-fetched story.
The bottom line? Sanders seems to trigger an unfavorable reaction among the NFL community but garners support from the former NFL vet and others.

Shedeur Sanders receives big endorsement amidst stock frustration

It seems that NFL teams are misunderstanding Sanders’ big confidence as his ego. Well, even if he has an ego, as per the NFL legend Shannon Sharpe, it suits him well. A good career, good numbers, and great talent don’t allow a quarterback to be a puppet of any recruiting team, or he can’t be overtly desperate for attention. It doesn’t go with an elite tag.
Also, Chad Johnson, the co-host of Nightcap, echoed the same sentiment, calling his Combine half-participation decision wise. Johnson said the running, those picture-perfect drills, and throws are all good to watch, but in reality, they hold lesser value than the overall film of a player that represents his continuity and class as an athlete.
ESPN analyst Ryan Clark also seconds them, backing the Colorado QB up amidst harsh criticism and the stock decline with a stronger argument. “It’s not just about him being Deion Sanders’ son. It’s about the bravado he carries. It’s about the fact that he looks a certain way. It is about the fact that the color of his skin sometimes at the position can be questioned,” Clark said.
It will be riveting to see how Shedeur and his Colorado faithful go against the NFL narrative and readjust his position in the pro setup going forward.
