Brooks Koepka Opens Lid About His Insecurities After Losing $4M Dollars to Joaquin Niemann

And just like that, LIV’s Asian swing has come to a stop with the final round in Singapore. Joaquin Niemann managed to secure his second win of the 2025 season; reflecting on his performance, the 26-year-old shared his happiness. He stated, “was one of those days. Everything went my way.” However, not everyone is happy with Niemann’s win.

Brooks Koepka swung just as strong at the Sentosa Golf Club. With scores of 67-69-65 in all three rounds, he was undoubtedly a strong competitor in the field. However, he finished second and missed the chance to pursue $4 million.

After the performance, Koepka sat down for a press conference, sharing about his performance. Is he satisfied with it? Not really. “Yeah, not really hitting it great, but kind of tried to figure out how to finish second because first was obviously out of reach and kind of found some things the last couple holes, which was good momentum to build on for, I guess, the next month.”

For a look at his last round performance, Koepka finished with bogeys on his 13th and 15th holes. After that, he recovered with two birdies on the 16th and 18th holes, along with a par on the 17th hole. On the other hand, Niemann fired a total of 6 birdies in the final round and finished the rest with even par. So, what went wrong for Koepka?

It’s tough to explain. He felt that his setup and approach were not quite right during the round. He focused on returning to the basics—aiming at a specific spot six inches in front of the ball for the last six holes, which he hadn’t done earlier in the day. “The start line was off. If I don’t feel comfortable with my start line, I’ll never hit it good. So it started to feel a little better.

Interestingly, Brooks Koepka was a strong contender in Singapore this season. He registered his first win in Singapore in 2024. Despite having the most LIV Golf wins (5), Koepka isn’t faring well this season yet. Let’s take a brief look.

Brooks Koepka isn’t looking very strong in his 2025 season

If you have been following Brooks Koepka, you already know about the rumors surrounding his possible departure from LIV Golf. This speculation gained traction, especially due to Koepka’s vague statement, “I don’t know where I am going,” after his LIV Golf contract expires in 2026. Since then, both Scott O’Neil and Jerry Foltz have defended him. Back in February, he was seen hanging out with Tiger Woods’s TGL team, which added fuel to the fire. Undoubtedly, a wave of speculation weighs heavily on Brooks Koepka despite a series of disappointing finishes this season.

After dominating LIV events last year with two wins and four top-10 finishes, Koepka has struggled to replicate that success this year until his finish in Singapore. Before that, in his previous three starts this season, he managed only one top-10 finish. His last finish in Hong Kong (T35) drew more criticism than applause. Additionally, his team, Smash GC, hasn’t performed well either. Rivals have fared much better, leaving Smash GC behind. In fact, in Singapore, Smash GC provided Koepka with a tighter finish, with Smash GC finishing 8th in Singapore.

For a leader who is constantly involved with his team, the team adds to the pressure. So, how does he feel about it? Just a few days ago, he mentioned that the team format helps golfers rely on each other. But is it easy? No. “Instead of letting me and Rick down and my coaches, I feel like I’ve let three other guys and their caddies and their coaches and everybody else down.” Undoubtedly, the weight is heavy on the golfer. However, Koepka does seem to be returning to form after finishing in Singapore. Do you think he and his team will hold up for the rest of the season?
