Matt Rhule Receives Unexpected 230lbs News After Nebraska HC’s Huge Move for Dylan Raiola Reported

Matt Rhule and Nebraska are fiercely protective about their roster depth. Rhule announced a month back that they are not ready to let their players be traded in an open forum that features a lot of rival coaches. The poaching concern restricted the Huskers’ head coach from holding off the traditional spring game. However, the off-season has brought some significant changes in the Nebraska football team, including the addition of six new coaches, 16 transfer portal recruits, and 20 2025 recruiting class players. It seems another will be added to this list.

The standout linebacker, Javin Wright, returned for the sixth season. Yes, you heard it right, the sixth season, for real! Wright started off his career at the Huskers back in 2019 but has missed most of his first three seasons. He has some serious struggles with blood clot complications that led to surgery in 2021. Over the next two seasons, he played 23 games, with 2023 being his best year so far. In 2024, Matt Rhule declared that he would be indefinitely out. Eventually, he healed up and made an impact in nine games during the year, including the Pinstripe Bowl victory over Boston College. Wright led Nebraska with a career-high-tying eight tackles in the Pristine Bowl, including a half tackle for loss.

Now, in 2025, Wright is again returning to his college for another year stint, and it certainly comes off as a major boost to the offense. Nebraska insider Wilson Dittman noted, ‘‘I still can’t believe Javin Wright is coming back for his 7th year. When he committed to Nebraska, I was in 7th grade. I’m about to enter my sophomore year of college this fall. Gotta love him, though; one of my favorite players, no question.”

During an interview with the Husker Sports Network at the Pinstripe Bowl, linebackers coach Rob Dvoracek was the one who left early crumbs on his potential return. “It’s been a long year for him with some injury things that he’s been dealing with,” Dvoracek said. “Obviously, he’s been here a long time, too, so for him to play in a meaningful bowl game like this is really cool for him. We are working on him coming back next year, so it will be good.”

Throughout his career, Wright has played 699 defensive snaps and another 317 on special teams. During Nebraska’s 20-15 win over Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl, he played 43 snaps on defense—the second-highest in his career.

However, Matt Rhule continues to look out for the best wide receiver support for his QB1 as he outlined a massive discord.

Coach Rhule seems to go high on his WR recruitment

Dylan Raiola’s weight is a recurring theme of head pain for coach Rhule. At 6’3″ and 230 pounds, Raiola doesn’t look sculpted and properly equipped to handle the challenges of a top defense. But Matt Rhule isn’t ready to accept any less than the peak form of his QB1 for 2025. So, all he can do is create a safety net as strong as possible to wipe out the other minor disparities.

Analyst Dittman mentioned a few names who are heavily on the Huskers’ radar for the year 2025. The first name on the list is the potential #1 target from Florida: Jabari Brady. Dittman noted. “This is Jabari Brady out of Pompano Beach. He is 6’2″ and 210 lbs. You watch Jabari Brady on film, and the first thing that you see are incredible hands. He uses height very well. He has great burst and good speed off the line at scrimmage. Honestly, very, very good route running for his age.”

Brady’s incredible talent earned him a handful of offers from elite schools like Ohio State, Florida, Miami, and Oklahoma—but Nebraska’s in the fight. WR coach Daikiel Shorts has been playing an instrumental role in wooing Brady since his February visit. Next summer’s official visit will be a perfect opportunity for the Huskers to seal him for good.

This is not it, nevertheless. ”Tall wide receiver threat out of Georgia this time, Carrolton. This is Ryan Mosley. A legit 6’4 big-body receiver. I compare him a lot to Calvin Johnson. Man, you just throw the ball up to him, and he’s going to take it and get you a touchdown,” Dittman vouches for the Georgia talent as a big potential Huskers prey. The list further includes Jayden Warren and Nalin Scott, whom Rhule hinges on for his 2025 fate. With Scott, the picturesque seems perfect as he matches Rhule’s idea of insane speed. But landing any of these lucrative receivers is going to be a heck of a battle for the Nebraska coach.
