The NFL offseason drama is in full swing and the main character of this blockbuster? Free agency. With the market officially open, teams are scrambling to lock in top talent and land the real deal. But while the frenzy unfolds across the league, there’s a different kind of storyline brewing in Dallas. But amid this, the Cowboys are still holding off on a contract extension for their star linebacker, Micah Parsons. Earlier reports hinted that team owner Jerry Jones was ready to break the bank and make Parsons the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league. But now? The situation isn’t as clear-cut as many expected.
For those assuming Parsons’ extension is a done deal—think again. According to NFL insider Jane Slater, there’s no agreement in place, and, in fact, meaningful negotiations haven’t even started. Slater reported, “While there is chatter on Twitter about Micah Parsons and a contract extension being finalized, I checked. Not only is it NOT done, but what would be characterized as meaningful talks haven’t even begun yet, per two sources informed.”

The reporter also added, “I have no reason to believe it won’t be done or can’t be done soon just telling you I now have 3 sources telling me deal isn’t done and 2 telling me they wouldn’t characterize the talks as meaningful enough right now to put pen to paper. Reading between the lines? Communication has begun but they aren’t there yet.”
And just as that report makes waves, another bombshell has emerged—this time about the Cowboys and a potential trade for Cooper Kupp. If things had played out differently, the star wide receiver could have been wearing a Dallas jersey.
Curious about what went down? Stay tuned—this story is still unfolding!
