“Drinking 6 Pack Of Beer”: Lakers Legend Confirms Stance On Luka Doncic Trade Amid Growing Weight Concerns

Last night, Luka Doncic stepped on the LA soil first time as a Laker. While most of the fans expressed their excitement over the star’s entry, some had a different concern. It was something to do with the ex-Mavs star’s conditioning. While the LA side has roped in the Slovenian with the ambition of carrying the franchise legacy after LeBron James’ retirement, the star guard’s constant injuries are truly a big concern. However, the Lakers legend James Worthy dropped in promising words to stall the worry.

It’s been only a day and the Lakers have already moved ahead with the future. Meanwhile, the Mavs fans are still sticking their broken hearts together. The last time, they ever saw Luka play was on December 25th, 2024, the same game during which he suffered the calf injury. It’s been over a month and the star was expected to return before the All-Star week.

Above all, this isn’t a rare one-time occasion. Throughout his 7-season-long career, Luka Doncic has never completed a single without an injury break. Moreover, there was constant criticism of him, losing shape with every passing season. Well, is it because he didn’t have any to look up to? The 19-year-old Luka had Dirk Nowitzki and JJ Redick at the beginning of his career and later went on to become a leader himself.

This is where Lakers legend James Worthy felt LeBron James‘ presence would solve the imposing problem. “LeBron’s gonna take him in the gym. He’s going to the gym and he’s gonna look at that diet. You know maybe even know nightlife,” said the 3x NBA Champ. Speaking for SiriusXM NBA Radio, Worthy further continued, “Luka is going to adapt to what’s going on in that locker room. At 25, I was drinking 6 packs of beer a week and you know chilling at 25 and I didn’t get it throughout like 28-29. He’s young. So hopefully coming to LA will change some of his strategies.”

“I haven’t seen a trade like this since Kareem going back to LA or Moses going to Philly”

Bron has become the epitome of fitness, especially with his longevity. The 40-year-old has churning in buckets like no one has ever done before. So, undoubtedly, a generational talent, who hasn’t reached his prime yet, couldn’t asked for a better leader than the Akron Hammer.

Did Luka Doncic already get back in shape?

Last night, wearing a black hoodie, Luka Doncic stepped out of a private and walked toward the transit. In the meantime, the paparazzi caught hold of him, raising a roar of applause with their shutters. The 25-year-old acknowledged the love, posing for them. In the meantime, fans online were divided. The latest buzzword on the internet was “270 lbs” and the majority of fans denied the allegation and stated that the star was already shedding his weight.

However, there were contradicting opinions as well. Some felt that the star’s outfit did the trick. Nevertheless, James Worthy has another message for the worried fans as well. “I think Luka understands where he is right now in his career I haven’t seen a trade like this since Kareem going back to LA or Moses going to Philly… It’s big.”

So, we’ll just have to wait until the star shares the floor alongside Bron and the rest of the Lakers. With Mavs GM already challenging Luka’s defensive ability and fitness, Luka Doncic has a lot of work to do. Will this be a great fit for the Lakers’ future? Or did the team make the costliest mistake of the century? Let us know in the comments below.
