Eagles Coach Throws 31 NFL Quarterbacks Under the Bus for Jalen Hurts as Nick Sirianni Game Plan Gets Spoilt Publicly

In 2020, when Philly drafted Jalen Hurts, they placed him third on the depth chart behind Nate Sudfeld. But the Oklahoma alum took just two weeks to move up to backup QB. By December, he was Philly’s QB1, making his first start against the Saints. The following year, coach Nick Sirianni officially named him the Eagles starting QB. He had won over Sirianni.

“I don’t want anyone else leading this team at quarterback other than him. He’s a winner,” Sirianni said just days before the Super Bowl, -that’s how much faith Philly has in their QB. Over his five-year career, Hurts has led the Eagles to the Super Bowl twice, winning the Lombardi this season. And now, another Eagles coach is showering praises on Jalen Hurts, calling him the “perfect” QB in the league.

Philly’s DC Vic Fangio first gave Hurts his flowers in 2021, back when he was the Broncos HC. He had said, “I’ve been very impressed. He has a really good arm. He runs their zone-run stuff where he’s in the gun and can pull it and run it—the RPO game.” And now, he’s doubled down, saying, “He has no weaknesses… I told Howie back in 2021 that he had his quarterback.”

Honestly, when your QB delivers a Super Bowl win, it’s only natural to gush over him. But there’s a small catch here: coach Fangio’s current outright praise for Jalen Hurts has come quite some way from what he said a short while ago in December.

During the regular season, while the Eagles were still making their Super Bowl push, Vic said in an interview: “Jalen is still a young player that needs to improve, and he’s been very coachable and playing good football.” Looks like Jalen ended up checking every box Fangio wanted him to improve on.

Well, now there Fangio is, putting his QB leagues above the 31 other QBs in the league. On the other hand, Eagles WR DeVonta Smith has exposed Nick Sirianni’s game plan publicly.

DeVonta Smith spills Nick Sirianni’s game plan

If you’re a Philly fan, all you have to do is yell at Nick Sirianni when your guys are messing up; that’s the mantra. Eagles star WR DeVonta Smith recently spilled some inside scoops during his appearance on the 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast with Carmelo Anthony. Smith shared how the passionate Eagles crowd sometimes ends up influencing the team’s play-calling.

“The Philly fans, when things ain’t going right in the passing game, everybody starts chanting, ‘Run the ball!’” Smith revealed. Well, that’s every fanbase. But the difference in Philly is that Sirianni listens. “They want you to run the ball before you even think about passing. Passing the ball is not an option at this point. They’re like, you need to run the ball,” added the WR.

And when the chants get loud enough, Sirianni acts. “Nick, he’s over there like, ‘I hear you, I’m going to run the damn ball.’ He’s arguing with the fans, and we’re just sitting there like, well, when they start doing that, he listens to them and he runs the ball, and the run game is working, so we’re like, ‘Yeah, we know what type of day it’s going to be,” shared Smith.

So, if you’re ever at Lincoln Financial Field, just remember, you’ve got more influence over the game plan than you think.
