1 Less Problem Confirmed for Deshaun Watson as Browns QB Continues Posting Injury Updates

Deshaun Watson’s story has everything you need—setbacks, self-reflection, and a somewhat promising path ahead! The Browns’ QB is grinding through rehab, and he is consistently dropping updates on his injury status. Amidst this, fans are also hooked on the updates of Cleveland’s QB situation, wondering if Watson is en route to reclaim the spot after Russell Wilson is locked in by the Giants. Giving another rehab update with his latest post, it seems like he has one less thing to worry about.

Making an Instagram post on March 26 with the caption “4OVE [I’m Learning, I’m Growing!],” he gave fans an unfiltered look at his mindset. Explaining why he is documenting his journey, he remarked, “I always want to kind of tell my story. I always want to document my process.” It is more than rehabbing, it is to rebuild his image. His injury was a wake-up call, as he remarks, “I learned about patience, how to really face the struggle and adversity.” Deshaun Watson’s rehab is more about getting back on the field – it is to prove that he’s still worth the investment.

Now, as he considers the prospect of his future, the news of Russell Wilson being out of the equation has come through. Clearly, the Giants recently signed him on a one-year, $10.5M guaranteed deal (which could possibly hit $21M). Wilson, who had spent the 2024 season with the Steelers, had visited both the Browns and the Giants. Now, he is expected to be the starting QB for the Giants, ahead of Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito. So, one less QB for Deshaun Watson to worry about.

Meanwhile, Watson’s recovery isn’t finished, but the pressure to rush back has just gotten lighter. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler had reported that the Browns had shown a keen interest in signing Wilson. They also have Carson Wentz as a backup option, but Wilson was their priority. But now, it seems that Watson can put a pause to his panic button, as he continues his recovery from injury.

Watson maintains a strong mentality amidst injury

Watson tore his Achilles back in October 2024, in a non-contact, freak accident. However, in early 2025, he re-ruptured his tendon. While his rehab is in full swing, his future hangs in uncertainty. Amidst this, he reflected on his mentality in his recent post, adding, “I learned how to control my emotions, control my thoughts, control my inner peace.” He is not only working on his injury, but also his mentality. He also believes in tightening his inner circle, stating, “I’m very big on just kind of like who I allow in my circle.”

And, he does not ever want to be complacent. “I think that’s the beauty of me, is just that I’m never complacent. I’m never comfortable.” A few days ago, he shared yet another role, emphasizing the role of faith in his journey. With the caption, “4OVE x GODSPEED [Psalms 46:10],” it states the verse: “Be still, and know that I am God.” It is faith that is fueling his patience.

Meanwhile, Cleveland had an interest in Wilson, but never made a solid move. With no big-name QB additions, one can expect a backup or a mid-round rookie in the draft. Due to Watson’s $230M guaranteed deal, it has made moving on from him nearly impossible. And, fans also believe that despite everything, the Browns still consider that Watson is their guy!
