It is the end of the road for the Boston Bruins this season. The team succumbed to their 10-consecutive loss after going down against the Montreal Canadiens in a one-sided affair 4-1 to bow out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs race. With just six games to go, the Bruins trail the Canadiens, who are the last-placed team to qualify via a wildcard, by 12 points.
Even if the Bruins pull off a miracle and win all their remaining games in regulation time, it’s still highly unlikely they’ll overtake the Canadiens. Amid this disappointment, Bruins star Elias Lindholm has an honest take on his team’s comeback.
As if bowing out of the playoffs race wasn’t enough, the Bruins are also on course to equal their worst losing streak in their history. Exactly 100 years back, they suffered 11 back-to-back defeats and if they lose their next game, the Bruins would level that. Thus, Elias Lindholm is seriously hoping for his team’s comeback sooner rather than later.
During the post-game interview after the loss against the Canadiens, Lindholm revealed, “This is our job. We’re getting paid a lot of money to do this. There’s people out there who are struggling & we get paid millions to play hockey, it shouldn’t be hard to find some sort of motivation.”

Interestingly,Elias Lindholm is among the top-paid players in the Bruins’ roster, having a cap of $7,750,000. However, he has had a forgettable season so far, having recorded just 14 goals. Although Lindholm has featured in the majority of the games for the Bruins this season, Lindholm has failed to deliver in what has been a sorry season for the entire team.
However, Lindholm wasn’t the only one to call out the team’s poor effort throughout this season. Even their defenceman, Nikita Zadorov, made an honest revelation after losing against the Canadiens.
Boston Bruins are easy to play against
After a string of poor performances, the Bruins are in danger of finishing at the bottom of the Atlantic Division, let alone qualifying for the next round. Be it their faltering attack or leaky defence, nothing has worked in their favor. As a result, adding on to Elias Lindholm‘a response, the team’s 29-year-old defenceman, Zadorov, made a critical assessment of the Bruins.
He said, “The other teams are just hungrier than ours. They want to win more, that’s the bottom line. We’re just not hard on the puck. We’re easy to play against. We didn’t win any battles. Couldn’t leave our zone. We got one shot, two shots on net in the last five minutes of the period.”
Amid the recent downfall, their interim coach, Joe Sacco, has repeatedly appealed for a consistent performance throughout the 60-minute period. Despite showing flashes of brilliance, consistency was something that the Bruins have thoroughly lacked this season, resulting in one of their worst showings in the team’s history.
