While it has been a forgettable season for the Boston Bruins, there has been one star who has been shining bright this season for them. And it is none other than David Pastrnak. The Bruins dead last in the Atlantic Division and out of the Stanley Cup Playoff race. With results not going their way this season, Pastrnak has been the sole warrior fighting hard to keep the team afloat. Yesterday, he hit a major milestone, but caught a disappointed look amid the team’s struggles.
During the game against the Devils yesterday, Pastrnak scored a goal and assisted another two to reach the 100-point mark this season. It was a sumptuous performance from the 28-year-old, helping his team to a 7-2 victory. And a much needed victory as they recover from that 10-game losing streak. But despite achieving the 100-point milestone in a winning game, the Czech winger didn’t feel like celebrating his achievement.
Conor Ryan of the Boston Globe drew attention to his subdued response in a post on X “Obviously, very honored — it’s not easy in this league. But at the same time, I feel like that’s my job. I wish it would be under better circumstances. It’s good, but nothing changes for me. There is only one thing that I’m chasing,” said Pastrnak in his post-game interview, via NESN.

Pastrnak has been a treat to watch on the ice and has been consistently scoring goals and assists despite the Bruins’ poor form all season. Moreover, he lies in the fourth spot for most points this season, showing his value despite the team’s downfall. The numbers really don’t lie.
However, this wasn’t the only achievement for David Pastrnak of late. During the game against the Buffalo Sabres, Pastrnak recorded three assists. With this, he became the first Bruins player to record a point on 10 consecutive team goals. Amidst this, it looks like Pastrnak has taken to heed some advice from Joe Sacco last year.

While it has been a wonderful season for David Pastrnak on the personal front, he suffered a brief slump in form late last year. This significantly affected the Bruins, who lost their way in the Stanley Cup Playoff race. However, their coach, Sacco, stood behind Pastrnak and motivated him to come back stronger.
He said, “I think that I’m going to leave him alone a little bit here, give him some space. He’s certainly pressing. But, when he gets looks like that, they will eventually go in. He’s too good of a hockey player. So, just give him some space and hopefully he finds that touch.”
Meanwhile, ex-Bruins star, Brad Marchand, also echoed Sacco’s thoughts, saying, “Sometimes goals come easier than other times. Right now it seems like we have to compete and battle and fight a little harder to get goals, which is fine. You just have to be smart about your game, and if that’s the case, then we need to be really tight defensively. … It’s really understanding how your game’s going and how you have to play to have success.”
