American WTA pro Jennifer Brady might be away from action, due to her knee injury since last season, but she’s still the center of attraction. Especially for her girl gang, including her bestie and World No.3 Jessica Pegula. Remember how last season they spent time together in Charleston with other members of their group – Madison Keys and Desirae Krawczyk? “I can’t really see another squad tryna cross us,” Brady wrote on IG back then. And Guess what? She had a similar moment this week, with her group in Charleston. Alongside Madison Keys and New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe, bestie Pegula also joined her, and the World No. 3 didn’t shy away from taking a jab.
Brady took to her IG account on Saturday and shared a series of photos, captioning the post, “dumparooski.” The pictures showed her having a blast with Keys, Routliffe, Pegula, and other friends as they had a day out in the restaurant, snapping fun pictures together. The girl gang also went to a retail store. To be specific, it was the renowned Tecovas, famous for its cowboy boots and Western-style apparel.
Interestingly, Brady was seen flaunting different footwear options from Tecovas while posing for the camera. Maybe she bought a pair as well, who knows? Jessica Pegula was surely impressed by her amazing choice. Gushing over Brady’s boots, the US Open finalist took a fun jab at her. In the comments, she wrote, “The boots are so cute though no way you got them.”
But it’s not the first time Brady has compelled her friends to admire her choice of fashion – be it boots or her clothes. Even last season, Madison Keys praised her outfit. Despite the injury, Brady decided to go to Charleston, back in April 2024, to watch her compatriots play in the tournament. Announcing her arrival at the venue, she wrote, “Vibin out here @creditonecharlestonopen.”
She was sporting sunglasses while donning a half-sleeve sweater and blue jean shorts. On the side were crutches, too, as she was using them for assistance because of the knee injury. Keys couldn’t resist admiring Brady’s appearance and commented that she just “loves these fits!!” But that wasn’t all. Even Routliffe didn’t hold back and wrote, “Who tf is dressing you? These fits.”
Brady’s still going to take time for her comeback to professional tennis. And she made it clear last year itself with a long message on social media. So how long will it take?
Jennifer Brady’s unfortunate tennis break due to injuries
Jennifer Brady returned to the tour back in August 2023 following a two-year gap. It was due to her knee injury, which she sustained during the Cincinnati event in 2021. When she came back nearly two years ago, the knee injury resurfaced, and she had to go on a break once again in late 2023. China Open in October was her last professional tournament, where she withdrew in R32 against Magda Linette.
Later in January 2024, she shared a post on her Instagram regarding her situation. Sharing the news of her withdrawal from the Australian Open, she wrote, “While it hasn’t been easy dealing with injuries and taking time off at the peak of my tennis career, I was grateful and happy to be back competing at the highest level again during the U.S. swing and end of last year”
“During this process, I’ve decided to enroll back into UCLA for the spring quarter and help the women’s tennis team by being an (under) graduate assistant coach. I’m bummed not to be competing during this time, but I’m very excited to be a part of the UCLA tennis team again. I’ll be watching and rooting for my friends who are playing on tour,” Brady further added.
In the note, however, she didn’t specify the time or date of her return. Simply put, the recovery will take longer than expected for her to resume playing on the competitive level. Hopefully, avid fans will get to see her back in action soon.
