After the Miami Dolphins announced their intention to move on from Jalen Ramsey, former Cowboys star Dez Bryant quickly—and indirectly—suggested that Jerry Jones should sign him. Just hours after the Ramsey buzz, the Cowboys made headlines again with news about a 114-tackle draft prospect. Could Jerry Jones select this defensive tackle during the draft?
Well, only Jerry Jones can answer that. But shifting focus to the second big opportunity of the day: the Cowboys have a shot at drafting Walter Nolen from Ole Miss. NFL draft reporter James Layton posted on X, “Ole Miss DT Walter Nolen is taking a top 30 pre-draft visit with the #49ers, #Bengals, #Cardinals, #Cowboys, #Packers, and #Panthers.” The Cowboys already have a force like Micah Parsons on their defensive squad, but if Jerry Jones decides to bring in Nolen, it could be the perfect finishing touch.

In his three years at college football, Walter Nolen played with Texas A&M for two years and then transferred to Ole Miss. If we look at his stats, Nolen has made 114 tackles combined, out of which 62 are solo. Along with that, he sacked QBs 11.5 times during his three-year journey. But now, the 6’ 4’’ 296 lbs defensive tackle will be playing in the big league. In the NFL combine itself, he rocked with great numbers. He was 2nd among the defensive tackles. Just imagine Nolen dominating the NFL gridiron with Parsons and other teammates. It would be scary for the opponent’s offense.
But you know, while Jerry Jones was busy making roster moves, a former Cowboys star announced his retirement from the game with a heartfelt gesture. After his retirement, QB Dak Prescott and the Cowboys expressed their emotions over the veteran’s decision.
Farewell to a legend: Dak Prescott and the Cowboys honor Tyron Smith
The Cowboys updated the NFL world with the Tyron Smith news on Tuesday. Dak Prescott’s former teammate announced that he wants to retire this offseason. But after declaring his retirement, the 34-year-old offensive tackle shared his wish. And that is to sign a one-day deal with Dallas and retire as a Cowboy. Jerry Jones is also a gentleman who approved it. Tyron was picked by the Cowboys in 2011. Since then, he played 12 seasons with the Cowboys and one last with Aaron Rodgers and the Jets.

After his announcement, Dak Prescott sent a beautiful message on Instagram to Tyron Smith. Prescott wrote, “I always got your back, as you had mine.” Tyron has shared the locker room with great QBs like Tony Romo and Rodgers.
In 2024, when Tyron Smith was traded to the Jets, he said: “Cowboys Nation, humbly, I don’t even know where to begin… Thirteen years sure is a long time to sum up in one short letter to thousands of people who made my time in Dallas so memorable. It’s been a long and wild ride filled with plenty of ups and downs, but Cowboy Nation, you’ve been here through it all.” A wild ride, indeed.
After spending 12 seasons with Jerry Jones’s Cowboys, leaving without a proper farewell would have been tough for Smith. That’s why the one-day ceremonial contract was a fitting tribute to his legacy.
