In the words of LeBron James: “Guarding Steph is uncomfortable.” But how many of those hoopers in the NBA are ready to face it? Who said it would be easy to guard, let alone stop Stephen Curry? This is the same lanky young boy from Davidson, revolutionized the game, turning 3-pointers into his work of art. That’s confidence, that’s the kind of pride you won’t see anywhere else. However, the 2024-25 season came with challenges for the Baby-Faced Assassin.
For the first time in a decade, Steph did not have his Splash Bro, Klay Thompson. It felt like someone had thrown the Golden State Warriors into the eye of a cyclone. Starting the season strong, the downfall began. From the first seed in the West to the eleventh, that journey, or rather crash, felt unreal. However, since Jimmy Butler’s arrival in February, the Warriors turned the story for themselves with a 25-11 record. And now, 82 regular-season games and a Play-in game later, Curry and Co. are officially into the Playoffs.
Freshly promoted seventh seed in the West, the Golden State Warriors faced the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday. In a match where the stakes are the highest, Stephen Curry rises; Stephen Curry shines. And he did, but Jimmy stood by his side. The duo chipped in a combined score of 75 points in the Dubs’121-116 win over the Grizzlies. Thus, after the game, Steph had a simple message for the Houston Rockets, whom they’ll meet in the Playoffs soon. “Took us 83 games but we did it! See yall in Houston!”
Curry took to his Instagram to share a thread of 13 photos, all from the big night of the Play-In Tournament at Chase Center. Each moment, starting with the 37-year-old taking a shot from the 3P line, to walking into the arena in style, showed how much this game meant to him. Well, why shouldn’t it be? He is still working to rebuild the dynastic Golden State Warriors, and that fifth ring has yet to come.
But Stephen Curry, through a social media post, sends a message to the Rockets that shows he’s more charged up than ever. He has his eyes fixed on the ultimate prize. Scoring 37 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists, and shooting 13-for-13 from the foul line, it’s evident that Houston is up for a massive challenge. Mr. Playoffs, Jimmy Butler, and the Threezus are up for some real action. Meanwhile, Houston’s legend, James Harden, has accused Steph of something serious.
Stephen Curry barred James Harden’s path to a championship
Stats say that James Harden has faced Stephen Curry 60 times in the NBA. Well, the figures could be slightly different, but not much. Now, in these sixty games that include 40 regular season and 20 playoff games, they have a 30-30 split. While the Beard seems to have the upper hand in the regular season with a 24-16 record, it’s the Playoffs where Steph rules; 14-6, yes, that’s the record the veteran point guard holds. Thus, James Harden has a little complaint against Curry.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Harden commended the Warriors legend for his longevity and contribution to the game and the league in general. “What he’s been able to accomplish in his entire career is unbelievable. We’re all witnessing real greatness,” Harden confessed. However, “The battles—the Warrior team that I had to go against—is probably the reason why I still haven’t got a championship yet.”

In 2009, the Warriors found their Golden Boy. Harden joined the fierce OKC Thunder squad. Three seasons later, he moved to Houston. Every time he neared the finals or a championship, Steph Curry stood in his way. Nonetheless, “But you know, what he’s been able to do his entire career is unbelievable. I’m happy to be a part of something like that,” James Harden concluded.
So, amidst all the cordial camaraderie, Harden cannot ignore or deny the fact that Stephen Curry is the ultimate force to reckon with. And, in all honesty, the Houston Rockets must do it too, because the Baby-Faced Assassin is coming with full force. It’s never enough players on the court to stop Steph, so- Houston, watch out!
