Ashton Jeanty was just shy of lifting the Heisman. If it were not for Travis Hunter, the Boise State superstar would have taken New York to the storm during the Heisman campaign. However, heading into the draft scene, the hype took him to a potential top-five pick in a rare anti-tradition call. The secret mantra is simple, yet powerful. ‘Just be your best every single day.’ But Jeanty doesn’t stop there. He’s coming out as bold and poised in his own skin. No nonsense ahead! Jeanty is no longer hiding behind the shadow of quarterbacks. If he misses out on him, it’s your loss.
Saquon Barkley is the man of the moment. Jeanty is good, but the Eagles’ poster boy is generational. I’m coming to win, big, soon.” The RB phenom continued hyping himself up: “Most people they watched the Eagles win the Super Bowl a couple of months ago, they watched Saquon run through everyone in the playoffs, and they thought to themselves, this is amazing. I watched it, but I thought something different,” Jeanty made a big claim, “I thought that can be me.”
Boise State enters as the most ridiculous draft pick with an overwhelming one-season stat under his belt. Jeanty, the top-rated running back, racked up a total of 2,600 yards and 29 touchdowns. He came up just 28 yards shy of Barry Sanders’ record of 2,628 rushing yards. Just imagine him as a QB with a lot of exceptional skills and scores! He would have run the boat as a potential No.1 or 2 pick. But the room for Running Backs is really slim. Elite teams like the Tennessee Titans, the Cleveland Browns, and the New York Giants are all thirsty to fill their QB room.
In the best-case scenario, He can still reunite with his home state, as a No.5 pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Technically, there’s zero chance of weighing higher than that. Next, he has some solid ground for the Raiders, who have shown some significant interest in him. He has also mentioned his high school home state (Frisco, Texas), the Dallas Cowboys as a potential suitor. But he’s still attempting to see things through a pool of mud. But don’t let it fool you! Jeanty isn’t unaware of his worth, and putting a tax on it is what we call the ‘chad move’.
It seems an NFL insider, Mike Garafolo, too, sees Jeanty on the same page as Shaquon in 2018 (No. 3 pick) and urged the Giants not to miss the potential top 3 running back this time, as they did 7 years back. Just on the contrary, the $4.4 billion New Orleans Saints received a different warning from another pro-freak.

The Saints have been tremendously under the deep water last season. To add to the anxiety, this season, they’re set to potentially miss Derek Carr for the entire 2025 season as the veteran is fighting through a persistent shoulder injury. They should ideally go for Shedeur Sanders as the No. 9 pick to fill in the shoes of their QB 1. But if Shedeur is off the board, they have to settle for an alternative. Newsweek’s Bryce Lazenby wants to make sure it won’t be Jeanty at least.
“Ashton Jeanty is an elite talent and the best running back prospect in this class. Any team could benefit from a player like Jeanty, but the Saints have more pressing needs to take care of,” Lazenby put his thoughts into logic. “Alvin Kamara may not be playing at the same elite level, but the veteran is good enough to handle the load for one more season.” No offense to Jeanty at all. His quick rise to the draft boards is totally commendable.
You can get a lot of RBs who can run the ball like a pro. But protecting your QB like an iron safety net is really rare. Jeanty accounts for that trait. His unfathomable passing game can totally ruin the defense of the opponent. But to have him as a top 10, especially for a team that has more essential needs to sort out than the Running Back depth, might not be a wise call. But irrespective of the opinions, Ashton Jeanty keeps riding up and above the chart!
