A Lamborghini yacht, expensive watches, and a lavish lifestyle, Conor McGregor has it all! The richest MMA fighter in the world likes to spend his millions in ways that some people could only dream of. But what many people are not aware of is that there is a generous side to him as well. The Irishman has been involved in many charitable works, and this time, he made the news for helping a desperate couple dealing with a serious illness. Despite losing his ability to talk and his ability to move, 32-year-old Dean Dunphy, who’s a van driver and a father, is preparing to exchange wedding vows with his fiancée, Michaela Connolly.
The man has been diagnosed with stage-four brain cancer (glioblastoma) and has suffered from stroke-like symptoms along with muscle twitching. Dunphy reportedly underwent surgery twice to remove the cancerous tissue, which resulted in a 10 cm scar. With the treatment expected to continue and amidst surging bills, the couple had decided to launch a fundraiser with a target of collecting €40,000 (or $45,380).
This money would be used not only to pay for his medical bills but also to arrange their wedding, as things have been pretty hard for them since his diagnosis in August 2023. “We’ve had two years of absolute madness, ups and downs, heartache, grief, bad news and good news, and I just said, ‘Let’s have something to look forward to for a change’. All I’ve ever wanted to do is marry him,” Dean Dunphy’s fiancée told PA Real Life. That’s where Conor McGregor appeared to help the couple!
As per reports from The Irish Mirror, the former double champ has made multiple donations and has splashed hundreds and thousands of dollars in the process. For Dean Dunphy and his fiancée, the Irishman decided to cover one-fourth of the couple’s desired target and donated €10,000 (or $11,345).

Conor McGregor is worth almost a couple of hundred million, and his charitable work is not just limited to his native country of Ireland. He’s even made massive donations across the world in the country where he made his name, the United States of America, and even broke the bank with his record-breaking success. Let’s take a look at that front!
Conor McGregor donated $1 million through his brand
Fighting isn’t really what made Conor McGregor rich, but it did make him famous. Although he earned some of the biggest paydays from Dana White, most of his net worth comes from the sale of the brand that he founded, Proper No. 12 whisky. McGregor sold his majority stake in 2021 to Proximo Spirits for nearly $600 million. Moreover, the Irishman reportedly raked in nearly $125 million from the deal. This ultimately made him a multi-million-dollar athlete, and he even found himself on the Forbes list.
But even after he sold his brand, he continued to do charitable work through Proper No. 12, which went on to donate over $1 million to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in New York. “I’m proud of Proper No. Twelve, and all the people working behind the scenes at Proper No. Twelve to make this happen,” said Conor McGregor. “As human beings, it is a must to give back. That’s what life is about, giving back.”
Well, it’s always nice to see people in influential positions give back to society, and McGregor will certainly continue to do that. Conor McGregor may not be fighting, but he’s not someone who can stay away from the headlines for too long. Regardless, let us know your thoughts on his recent donation to the couple battling a life-threatening illness in the comments down below.
