Celebrations in Larry Fitzgerald’s Family After Patrick Peterson’s Ring of Honor Demand for Cardinals

I have always made clear to Devin that his journey is his own.Larry Fitzgerald wanted his son, Devin, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Angela Nazario, to find his path on his own. But sometimes, the apple just chooses not to fall far. Devin found his rhythm in football anyway. And not just in any position, he picked up the same WR role as his dad.

The 11-time Pro Bowler has always tried to keep Devin away from the spotlight. But once Devin took the field at Brophy Prep, his numbers became undeniable. And now, it’s time for Devin to move on to his next chapter, college. Safe to say, Larry’s son has got a lot of offers on the table, thanks to his skills. Devin Fitzgerald played at Phoenix’s Brophy College Prep and made quite a name for himself. He is ranked as the fourth-highest wideout in Arizona, according to 247 Sports. During his 2024 season, Devin recorded 10 receptions while racking up 135 yards in his first two games. The WR also scored four TDs.

Before the season, Devin already had offers from Arizona and Washington. And ever since, the offers have not stopped. Devin now has offers from more than 18 schools. Recently, the wideout received an offer from Stanford University. And when you’ve got that many offers on your table, of course, it’s something to celebrate. The young wideout once shared in an interview, “I’m trying to build, like, my own name. I’m trying to be known as Devin Fitzgerald, not Larry Fitzgerald’s son.” Safe to say, he’s been doing that quite well.

Devin has also received an offer from Larry’s alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh. Other than that, the young wideout has offers from Michigan, USC, Minnesota, and even the Ivy League school Yale. At this point, you could say Devin might’ve lost count of the number of offers coming his way. The young WR is still weighing his options and has not picked any school yet. Well, when you have such an impressive line chasing you, you need time to find the right fit.

So, as Devin carefully considers his future, his dad’s friend, Patrick Peterson, just made a strong case for Larry Fitzgerald’s legacy.

Patrick Peterson advocates for Larry’s Ring of Honor

On April 11, CB Patrick Peterson announced he will be hanging up his cleats after gracing the gridiron for 13 seasons. Originally drafted by the Cardinals in 2011, Patrick is retiring as a Cardinal after not playing in the 2024 season. “My career’s here… It was a no-brainer for me to come back here and retire a Cardinal,” Peterson said as the Cardinals honored him at their practice facility. “It wasn’t the greatest departure, but at the end of the day, this is where my legacy is, this is where my legacy started.” And he deserves every ounce of it.

During the event, the CB was also asked about his potential induction into the Ring of Honor. While Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill told Patrick he is already in line, he thinks that before him, Larry Fitzgerald should get the nod. “I know I cannot go before Fitzy (Larry Fitzgerald). I did tell (Bidwill) that I do not want to go before Fitzy. So, whenever that happens, it’ll be after him.” And why not?

Larry and Patrick played together for a decade in Arizona. Both of them played their final season with the Cardinals in 2020. Fitzgerald hung up his cleats, and Patrick moved on with the Vikings. Larry, on his former teammate and friend’s retirement, shared a heartfelt tribute. In a video message, he said, “What an unbelievable journey it’s been to be able to watch you from Day 1. You always brought class, energy, leadership, and greatness to every team that you played on.” He added, “Your plays always inspired me. Still to this day, I think of that punt return walk-off touchdown against the Rams. Moments like that defined who you were as a player.” Peterson is indeed a legend.

Well, with that, Patrick Peterson’s legendary run in the NFL comes to a close, fittingly, right where it all began.
