Major Change in Jets Front Office as Aaron Rodgers Throw Aaron Glenn Under the Bus – Report

Aaron Rodgers, one of the NFL’s most accomplished quarterbacks, spent 18 seasons with the Packers before making a splash in 2023 with his move to the New York Jets. Rodgers’ exit from Green Bay Packers was massive—he’d spent almost 2 decades there and became a franchise icon.  The veteran’s move to the Jets had fans buzzing, but his exit from the team—and how things went down with Jets brass—sparked questions about how they treat veterans.

Rodgers formed a strong connection with the Jets, even though it was short lived. After the Jets made the trade, Rodgers instantly became the face of their rebuild. Rodgers didn’t just show up; he brought star power, helped attract top talent, and gave fans real hope. But despite all that, things didn’t go well for the QB. Now Rodgers has finally opened up about his departure—revealing a string of frustrations about how the Jets handled the situation.

According to NFL insider Mike Florio of NBC Sports, the Jets’ handling of Rodgers’ frustrations reflects a significant shift in the team’s approach. Florio says, “The Jets have not commented on Rodgers’ recent grievances, signaling a change in their response to outside criticism. In the past, they may have been more reactionary, but now they’re choosing to stay quiet and let the story play out. Florio highlights this shift from the impulsiveness towards a more calculated and measured response.

The Jets, traditionally known for their impulsive, reactive nature—whether positive or negative, are keeping things on the down low this time around. With such a public disagreement involving a high-profile player like Rodgers, the team’s choice to remain silent rather than engage in a back-and-forth is telling. The team is surely not taking the same approach they took two years ago, putting all their eggs in one basket with A-Rod just for him to miss out the entire 2023 season. And let’s be real: the 2024 season was not something exceptional for the veteran QB.

It is clear that the Jets are trying to move away from the situation and are maybe focusing more on strategic moves and rebuilding. With Justin Fields locked in, it’s not wrong to say they want to reach the playoffs this time around.

Rodgers, in his own way, seemed to point out these changes indirectly calling out Aaron Glenn, the team’s defensive coordinator, who was involved in the meeting. Did Rodgers truly blame Glenn for the mismanagement, or was his frustration more about the way the Jets handled the entire process?

Aaron Rodgers’ frustration: Is it Glenn or the Jets?

Rodgers opened up about his final meeting with the Jets, which has become the center of all the drama. A-Rod detailed the moment in his April 17 appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, saying, “I flew in, at my own expense, to have a conversation — thinking that that’s what we were going to have. I was basically told that they were going to move on. And I said, ‘That’s fine, I just wish that had been the conversation a few weeks earlier.”

The veteran QB made it clear that he wasn’t expecting any special treatment—just a respectful discussion. But the way things unfolded left him with a sour taste. Rodgers described the meeting as “confusing” and “strange,” noting that he had expected a deeper, more meaningful discussion about his future with the team, but instead, the conversation was focused on the team’s decision to move on from him. But then with the way last two seasons went for the New York team, their decision to separate from the veteran QB was not surprising.

But the thing is: Rodgers and Aaron Glenn go way back, and it’s mostly been all good. Glenn was part of the Packers’ defensive coaching staff during some of the team’s best seasons. Rodgers clearly saw him as someone he could trust, but based on how Rodgers described their final meeting, the vibe was off. It seems Glenn’s way of handling the exit didn’t match the bond they’d built over the years.

While some media outlets have suggested that Rodgers indirectly called out Aaron Glenn, the question remains whether this was a just an unfortunate byproduct of the tense situation. Rodgers clearly feels disappointed with how the team treated him, even though the full situation remains unclear. The change in the Jets’ front office is evident, but will they respond to Rodgers’ accusations as they have in the past or remain silent? For now, the silence speaks volumes.
