Jay Feely has lived a life full of accomplishments, both on and off the field. A former NFL kicker and current sportscaster, Feely is now eyeing a new chapter in his life. He’s running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives for Arizona’s fifth congressional district in the 2026 midterm election. “I’m excited about this next chapter of my life,” Feely told ESPN. “I think that I feel God’s calling pressing me into service, and that’s really what I believe it is, is the civil service. It’s clear that this is more than just a career move, it’s a calling.”
Jay Feely’s NFL journey kicked off in 2001 with the Atlanta Falcons, and he wrapped it up with the Chicago Bears in 2014. His athletic genes, it seems, were inherited from a family deeply rooted in sports.
Who are Jay Feely’s parents?
Jay’s grandfather, Thomas J. Feely, made his mark as a college basketball and baseball coach at St. Thomas College in St. Paul, Minnesota. Following in those footsteps, Jay’s father, Thomas J. “T.J.” Feely, not only played running back at the College of St. Thomas but also became a tennis coach. Jay’s mom remains more of a mystery in terms of public knowledge.
The former placekicker is married to Rebecca, and together, they have four children. The family resides in Arizona.
