Tyson reportedly bagged $20 million, while Jake Paul is said to have taken home a staggering $40 million. It’s clear the event’s success leaned heavily on Tyson’s enduring legacy and iconic presence, but in a surprising twist, the financial aftermath told a different story.
When Inside Boxing Live recently revealed Sportico’s list of top-earning boxers, Jake Paul’s name featured prominently—while Tyson’s was notably absent. For a legend whose name still echoes through boxing history, being out-earned and overshadowed by a YouTuber-turned-boxer might sting more than any punch ever could.
“The highest paid boxers for 2024 have been revealed,” Inside Boxing Live captioned a post on Instagram. They added, “Tyson Fury – $147M, Oleksandr Usyk – $122M, Canelo Alvarez – $73M, Anthony Joshua – $60M, Jake Paul – $48M, Naoya Inoue – $42M.” It’s also worth mentioning that Mike Tyson seems to have retired from the sport for good.
Meanwhile, Jake Paul is supposed to fight former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. after failing to secure a fight against the likes of Canelo Alvarez and Gervonta Davis. Nonetheless, Chavez Jr. has now revealed why he took the fight against Jake Paul.

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is returning to the ring with a mission—to get revenge on Jake Paul for defeating boxing legend Mike Tyson. The former WBC middleweight champion revealed he had options for his comeback, including KSI, but ultimately chose Paul because of the storyline and stakes.

“Jake is bigger,” Chavez told ESNews. “People ask me, ‘Is it one of the fights with a better payday for you?’ It’s not, it’s okay, but the thing is, the opportunity to give him a beating this time.” Chavez Jr., who last fought on Paul’s undercard in a controversial win over Uriah Hall, is now stepping up to cruiserweight to face the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
His motivation goes beyond the money. “I love Mike Tyson and I’m the first guy to fight Jake after he beat Mike Tyson and I want to take revenge for Mike Tyson.”
