We are just a night away from the Draft 2025. The hype grows as wildfire across the teams, scouts, and the hopefuls. The last-minute back-and-forth in the stock can make a difference in the fate of the players. But the stocks shift shape like a raging ocean, and determining a sure-shot NFL destination is difficult. Take Jalen Milroe for instance. After facing a significant setback in his stock right after his lackluster season, he is starting to regain his mojo on the draft board. The former Alabama quarterback – known for elite mobility – seems to be a potential steal as of now. But does that mean he will start right away in whichever team he gets planted? Well, the QB doesn’t hold back articulating his raw feelings on this.
Milro had a meetup with the Giants right before the draft night. In a candid interview with SNY, the Bama QB noted that he would love to play for them and build a relationship with the people around him. He claimed that the Giants staff communicated a lot with him and helped him learn their system, understand their plays, their ways of running the ball, and more. Can he be a potential No.3 in their round 2? That is a mystery. But the real question is, Giants GM Joe Schoen has already loaded his QB room with two veteran quarterbacks, Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston. So any rookie he brings won’t have to start immediately. How comfortable would Milroe be with that?
In a rightful question by SNY, the Bama signal evoked confidence. “What’s for you is for you… The best thing for any player is [to] worry about them and their situation and worry about how they can improve, not worried about other people’s situation,” Milroe doesn’t seem to hurry for the spotlight. His ego is settled on its own and doesn’t need an immediate booster.
Milroe showcased a tottering passing ability throughout the season. But his performance was largely a mixed bag. When he couldn’t really shine the brightest under DeBoer, his 20 rushing touchdowns remained the USP of his year. He also clocked an official 4.40-second 40-yard dash time during Alabama’s Pro Day. Now, you know why he’s so miraculously calm and poised in his approach. He knows he’s built differently.
“No matter if I play early on [or] not, I’m still the same person, and I’m grounded in who I am and I believe in myself. Your confidence is the biggest thing. Confidence in preparation [is needed to] be successful. I know that no matter if I start right away or do not, you know, you still got to earn your way,” Milroe continued, “You look at the landscape of NFL football, no matter where you are selected in the Drafts, you gotta prove yourself. And so it’s going to keep, you know, coming in, and then the hunger that I have. That’s what I gotta bring move forward.”
It’s a clear message to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that he knows how to play it slow, steady, and untamed. So, if you somehow buy into the narrative that portrays him as a short-lived guest of the pro, you’ll be brutally mistaken. Take it with no grain of salt. Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry has already kept him higher than Lamar Jackson. Thanks to a ruthless speed with the ball at his feet. But still, that ‘not for long’ theory whispers under the radar.
Jalen Milroe receives upsetting draft prediction a night before the show
Alabama insider Greg Bosworth believes that running can be a solid flex for the former Bama QB, but he can never match the elite squad of Lamar Jackson or Cam Ward in terms of passing. “Jalen never evolved as a passer in Tuscaloosa, and that will not work in the NFL. He has a cannon for an arm, but didn’t learn how to check down or how to read a defense,” said Bosworth.
And the NFL is too fast to let him grow and surpass a sizable gap. The pro works differently. Either you’re a catch or you’re a bust. No in between with a lot of background analysis. Greg believes he threw some awful passes in Tuscaloosa, and that can be a huge point of backlash in the NFL.
His canon arm has been pure eye-candy. But when it comes to checking down or reading a defense, it doesn’t do a decent job. Despite all of his locker room manners and wisdom, which bode well in the NFL, Milroe is still unfit as a starter in a lot of pre-draft projections.
The logic behind this is that the QB room is way too clustered for Milroe to get even a chance. However, if any of the QBs get injured or get caught in a mop-up/end-of-season situation, Milroe can get lucky to see the field. But who cares! The QB already says he will be a beast, no matter starter or a backup!
