Kellen Moore’s Saints Break 18-YO Tradition With Latest Decision as Saints GM Awaits Derek Carr’s QB’s Injury Update

The Saints and Kellen Moore are making moves to upgrade New Orleans. And the team’s looking ahead to the future. NFL Insider Jordan Schultz’s reports say the Saints are eyeing a trade back from their No. 9 pick in the upcoming draft to grab extra capital. The idea is to stockpile some picks and then trade back late into the first round to grab a QB, likely intending to find Derek Carr‘s successor. With the Saints’ front office making calls, they’re setting up a plan that could shake things up come draft day.

The #Saints have made calls about potentially sliding back slightly from No. 9 to acquire additional draft capital, with the leaguewide belief being they would then use those extra picks to trade back into the late first round to target a quarterback, sources tell @NFLonFOX.

Speaking of Carr, there’s some uncertainty about his status. Saints GM Mickey Loomis confirmed there’s an issue with Derek Carr’s shoulder. But he wasn’t spilling too many details, just that they’re hoping to get more clarity soon. “He does have an issue with his shoulder,” Loomis said, adding they’d provide more updates once they know what’s going on. Looks like the Saints have a lot to figure out, but they’re definitely planning for a future with a new QB in the mix.

This is a developing story. Stay tuned…
