March 18, 2025 – Bob Hayes Invitational, Florida – 100m final and an 18-year-old athlete with fire in his legs. The American, who is a 12th grader at Langston Hughes High School, took to lane number 4, and as soon as the cue to run came, the man jolted like the wind. Donning yellowish shorts and a white and yellowish patterned Nike vest, the teenager took the lead in 2-3 seconds into the race, and he was just far ahead that nobody even came close to him. The man recorded a 10.01s (2.3) run, and if you think that is impressive, just wait for what he did next.
The man once again took his mark on the track on April 23, 2025. This time in the Region 3-AAAAA Track & Field regional meet and the man just did what the likes of Noah Lyles have not been able to do at that age. This time in an all-green outfit, Maurice Gleaton, the 18-year-old track and field athlete, took to lane number 4. BANG went off the cue to run, and BOOM jolted the teenager. He ran so fast that at one point in the race, the camera could only focus on him.
The boy recorded a time of 9.98 seconds and finished first ahead of Jayden Lemon (10.65) and Keyawn Spencer (10.72). The time difference alone tells you how fast he was. This not only makes him the US #2 All-Time for 100m, behind only Christian Miller, but also faster than many elite athletes. At 18 years old, Noah Lyles recorded a personal best of 10.08 seconds in the 100 meters.
The RunnerSpace.com network site, DyeStat took to Instagram to celebrate the achievement of the 18-year-old. Posing a picture of the athlete, they wrote, “Oh…so THAT happened today @mauricegleatonjr runs his way to No. 2⃣ all-time on the high school 100m list with a WIND LEGAL (+0.0) time at his Georgia’s regional meet.”
