The Travis Hunter Show welcomed a special guest and that’s none other Cam Newton, whom Travis Hunter calls his 7-on-7 coach. On February 8, the former Carolina Panthers QB gave a piece of his mind when the two-way phenom asked what advice he would give him if he were his agent. “First pick,” Newton said. “The GMs kind of tipped it off and was like I want a generational talent. Respectfully, it’s like outside of Shedeur and Cam, there’s your only quarterbacks that you kind of reach for but generational for you. It’s a different monster.”
This latest “generational” praise put an end to the alleged tension between Travis Hunter and Cam Newton. Last month, the latter declared, “I do think he can play both. Do I think he can play 73 plays on defense and another 57 on offense in the NFL? No.” Sounds harsh but the former first overall NFL QB kept it real. But while this sparked speculation about a possible rift between the two, Hunter’s mother shut down the outside noise during her interview on BiggDoggChico.
Ferrante Edmonds gave the world a glimpse into the relationship between Cam Newton and her talented son. The first time they met was during a 7-on-7 football tournament in Atlanta where the NFL star invited Hunter to join his team. “And my son from that day, he made a decision. ‘Hey, I’m gonna go play with Cam,’” Edmonds recounted. “I was behind him with his decision that he made, and that turned out to be the best thing for him. Because you can see some of the highlights and the clips. I just be on the sidelines just laughing at the stuff he be doing, and I’d be like, this boy dancing.” Mutual respect is present in the close relationship between Travis Hunter and Cam Ward.
