April 25 will go down in Boulder folklore as the day the New Orleans Saints did the unthinkable—they passed on Shedeur Sanders again. At pick No. 40, with the Colorado star right there, Mickey Loomis and Kellen Moore swerved the hype train and snatched up 25-year-old Tyler Shough outta Louisville instead. The 7-year college journeyman who’s older than Trevor Lawrence and still waiting on his rookie fade.
And guess wh0’s not having it? Hall of Famer and Colorado frontman Warren Sapp. The man hopped on X, posted a Saints fans screenshot straight outta Draft, and hit send with one spicy caption: “It’s Personal #Wow”. You damn right it is.

Shedeur Sanders was supposed to be a first-round lock. Mock drafts had him pegged all over the top 32, with folks swearing he was a future face-of-the-franchise. But the New York Giants grabbed Jaxson Dart at No. 25, and Sanders just sat… and slid. Fast forward to the Saints’ pick, and instead of doubling down on the promise, they went all in on a maybe. A potential $10 million gamble, with more downside, than upside.
Look, Props to Tyler Shough, the man had himself a decent run at Louisville—3,195 yards, 23 touchdowns, 6 picks—and cooked at the Combine. ESPN’s Adam Schefter even said some front offices had him as QB1. Considering all the pre-draft activities and mocks, this is an absolute wild pick.
The Saints had Shedeur in for pre-draft convos. They knew he was available. And they still went with a dude who’s missed seasons with a busted collarbone, shattered fibula, and came out the same class as Justin Fields back in 2018. With Derek Carr nursing a bum shoulder, Kellen Moore bet $10 million on Tyler Shough over Shedeur Sanders; this was the Saints’ chance to go bold. Instead, they poked the bear.
Warren Sapp just lit the fuse. Shedeur’s camp is tight-lipped, but make no mistake—this one’s personal now.
