Meet Lindy Duncan’s Caddie at 2025 Chevron Championship: His History With LPGA Pro Explored

“I am living my dream right now,” said Lindy Duncan, a 34-year-old LPGA star currently playing in the first women’s major of the year. For the American golfer, who is vying for her first win—one that would also be the first for her caddie—The Club at Carlton Woods has been mostly forgiving, despite the weather troubles the iconic course has faced in the last few days.

And part of the reason she is doing it so well at the Chevron Championship is thanks to a local caddie, Stephen Nuby. When they first joined hands, the result wasn’t very successful. In 2024, with Stephen Nuby by her side, she made scores of 70-71-75-78. The American golfer finished T60. However, their second-time partnership at The Club at Carlton Woods, according to Duncan, has given the amazing result the women’s golf world is witnessing right now. Stephen Nuby, a local caddie at the iconic The Club at Carlton Woods, has massively contributed to Duncan’s rounds of 72-66-70.

However, for Duncan and Nuby, the job isn’t done until the end of the final round. Talking about the same ahead of the final round, the Florida native said, “My mantra for tomorrow would be to trust my instincts.” Duncan is currently hanging at 3rd place in the leaderboard, however, part of the reason many people are both hopeful and skeptical about her is because of her recent performances, with her seeing both hits and misses since last year.

For instance, last year, Lindy Duncan took part in 20 LPGA Tour events and successfully made 12 cuts. While she did not qualify for the CME Group Tour Championship at the end of the season, her 90th-place finish in the Race to the CME Globe enabled her to keep her full status for the 2025 LPGA Tour season, allowing her to overcome past challenges.

Leading up to the Chevron Championship, the 34-year-old had already achieved two top-15 finishes in 2025, tying for 12th at the Blue Bay LPGA and finishing 5th at the prestigious Ford Championship. Given Duncan’s promising performance this year, the player-caddie duo, working together for the second time at the Chevron Championship, has a chance to make history at the first women’s major in their second effort.

Lindy Duncan and Stephen Nuby have a chance to create two records at the Chevron Championship

When Stephen Nuby and Lindy Duncan joined hands for the first time at the 2024 Chevron Championship, the result wasn’t very successful. However, this time, Nuby’s knowledge of The Club at Carlton Woods seems to be helping the 34-year-old golfer. And that’s where the chance to create two records comes for this golfer-caddie duo.

When, in 2022, Jodi Ewart Shadoff picked up her first and only LPGA win at the LPGA MEDIHEAL Championship, she became the oldest Rolex First-Time Winner on Tour. If Lindy Duncan wins the Chevron Championship, she will become the oldest Rolex First-Time Winner on the LPGA Tour since Shadoff. Considering Duncan’s solid gameplay this week and Nuby’s solid presence at her side, her chances of achieving this record are very high. If she wins, this will be both Stephen Nuby’s and her first win on the LPGA Tour.

Stephen Nuby and Lindy Duncan’s second chance at history will come with a major Chevron Championship record. Since its inception in 1972, the Chevron Championship has seen three golfers over the age of 30 win the first women’s major title. Betsy King, the 1997 Chevron Championship winner, was the oldest to do so at 41 years of age, followed by Patty Sheehan (1996, 39) and Amy Alcott (1991, 35). At 34 years old and with a local caddie by her side, Lindy Duncan has a chance to join this elusive list. Do you think it will work out in this duo’s favor?
