Once again, the Los Angeles Dodgers aren’t really in a celebratory mood, even after their straight win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Their star pitcher was just moving past his last setback against the Texas Rangers a week ago. And now, he finds himself in a parallel situation all over again. It has brought a million fresh worries for the Dodgers. Exactly a month into the 2025 season, and the Dodgers can’t seem to escape injury roadblocks.
Yes, it’s Tyler Glasnow, the one who exited his last start against the Rangers due to apparent leg cramps. Now, once again, the Dodgers’ right-hander made another injury exit against the Pirates before the second inning.
Glasnow threw a total of 17 pitches in the first inning. He didn’t know what was coming next for him. To prep for the second inning, he was warming up and was seen shaking out his shoulder. Little did he know that it would result in another straight exit!
But despite the $136.5 million star’s setback, the Dodgers had the lead in the game. With all the odds stacked in their favor, they eventually secured a 9-2 win against the Pirates.
Post-game, the right-hander opened up about the hitch. Glasnow explained, “The extensions trying to throw, something grabbed. I think just making changes, trying to stay healthy. It’s just extremely frustrating.” Given his 2 consecutive exits, frustration is probably an understatement. He further continued that he will be making changes to his mechanics.
“I think mechanical stuff, other things are taking over, stressing other parts. I don’t know, just trying to figure it out.”
Just when he said that, the next question came up whether he would be undergoing any medical imaging or not. “I’m not sure yet.” Given his shoulder situation, it’s very likely that he would be joining the other Dodgers’ stars on the injured list.
LA certainly did not see this one coming. With Glasnow’s uncertainty, they have Tony Gonsolin and Clayton Kershaw as their other two starters. Both of them are on rehab assignments at the moment. Given Glasnow’s condition, the Dodgers need to make a move to retain their rotation in shape. But now, we can’t help but wonder when the Dodgers will be able to escape their long-standing injury setback.
Injury crisis continues to plague the Dodgers
After Tyler Glasnow‘s injury mishap, the Dodgers have some thinking to do. Let’s rewind to the beginning of this season when Tony Gonsolin was out of their rotation. Well, they must have thought it was just one setback; they would catch a break soon.
Of course, that didn’t happen, and the list kept growing when two key pieces of their lineup – both Blake Snell and Blake Treinen were added to the injured list. Not to forget, Clayton Kershaw is still on IL.
But to give a positive update in the midst of the Dodgers’ mounting injury woes, Blake Snell had an MRI recently, and there’s nothing wrong as of now, and he can be seen on the field sooner.
Then what about their star two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani? He hasn’t been pitching yet due to his 2023 elbow injury. For now, he is only seen batting. His two-way talent is yet to be experienced by the team.
And now, the Dodgers might face more challenges if Tyler Glasnow also takes a trip to the injured list.
On paper, the Dodgers’ lineup looks incredible. Beyond that, they just can’t seem to escape setbacks. No matter how star-studded, they are in a vulnerable spot at this point. Let’s just hope they bounce back stronger with all the players keeping themselves healthy.
