Conor McGregor‘s fighting career is probably done. The Irishman, of course, last fought at UFC 264 back in 2021, and despite his promises of being back soon, few actually believe him. The Irishman, of course, had plans of running for the President of Ireland in this year’s elections. But, it seems that might not be possible given the legal requirements.
This is probably why ‘Mystic Mac’ is taking a renewed interest in Michael Chandler, whom he abandoned at the altar two weeks from their UFC 303 clash last year, after leading him on for nearly two years. And now, it seems the Irishman is already planning on passing the torch to the next generation, as he showed off his youngest son, Mack, in a martial arts pose.
Conor put a picture of him from one of his fights in his signature southpaw karate stance—sideways, facing his opponent, with his right leg forward, with a wide stance, and most of his weight on his slightly bent rear left leg. This picture was juxtaposed with a picture of his son Mack, who did seem to have a remarkably similar stance.
“Mack McGregor. Karate stance. Southpaw. The future of Ireland is bright! God as our witness! ,” the Irishman captioned the post. Oh, and did we mention, Mack is just one year old? He was born to Conor McGregor and his long-term partner, Dee Devlin back in December 2023. The stance Mack took was undoubtedly taught by his father and is a part of his genetic endowment, so it’s not surprising to see him taking off after his father.

Whatever his faults, McGregor does seem to be a pretty good father, and this isn’t the first time he has shown interest in his sons’ martial arts training. He has multiple videos of teaching them to throw a punch like their legendary old man. However, it seems McGregor will have to be content with being a former UFC double champ and a father of four for the time being since the Irish Presidency seems out of his reach.
Conor McGregor explains ‘stipulations’ stopping him from running for President
So what is stopping Conor McGregor from running for President of Ireland in the 2025 elections? Well, the former two-division UFC champion explained it in an interview with American conservative star, Tucker Carlson.
“There’s stipulations,” McGregor said. “You have to get four county councils which are controlled by the government parties or you have to get 20 nominations of the Oireachtas [Irish Parliament] which are all mostly party affiliates… Can’t just run for president.”
Indeed, to even run for Irish President, a candidate needs to secure either the endorsement of four city councils or get twenty Irish Parliamentarians to nominate him. And the likelihood of that happening is next to none, according to Professor Gail McElroy of Trinity College, Dublin. “Most Oireachtas members are party-affiliated and won’t nominate him. It’s almost inconceivable that four county councils would endorse him either,” she told Economic Times.
This means that the Irishman’s political aspirations are all but ended, something even ‘Mystic Mac’ acknowledged to Tucker Carlson. What do you think about Conor McGregor’s son Mack’s southpaw stance?
