Well, when it comes to the Sanders, they are often prone to social media backlash, nepotism attacks and whatnot. But there is something they are blessed with. And that’s family support. Whenever any of the members of the Sanders fam went through a tough phase, they never had to look for motivation outside. They have got high support running in the fam. The past couple of days gave Deion Sanders and his kids, five of them, sleepless nights. After all, Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur went undrafted till Round 5. Things took an even uglier turn when it came to Shilo. The Buffs’ safety went undrafted in this year’s 2025 NFL Draft and ended up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a free agent. So, both the brothers might have been looking for a morale boost. And Deiondra got them covered.
Deiondra is Shedeur and Shilo’s stepsister- so what? Deion’s daughter has always been one of the biggest cheerleaders. She lived by the hope that her brothers would carry on Deion’s legacy in the NFL too. Prime Time went off as the fifth overall pick in the 1989 NFL Draft to the Atlanta Falcons. On the other hand, Shedeur was under the belief that he would be the top pick. When Field Yates projected he would go off as the No.6 pick, the Buffs QB’s sharp retort was, “That’s crap bruh, I ain’t going sixth.” But maybe the universe had different plans. The Buffs quarterback got selected by the Cleveland Browns with the 144th overall pick. Even though Shilo had missed the hype train, nobody expected him to go undrafted.
In a way, over a few days, the Sanders family went through multiple heartbreaks. But someone knows how to keep the morals high, being a close-knit family. That’s none other than Deiondra Sanders. On April 28, the proud sister came up with a gratitude post on Instagram. The caption said it all, how she trusts God’s plan. While momentarily things might feel like going out of place, Shedeur and Shilo have two things to keep them riding high in the pro league race. That’s the legacy of Deion and the love of the Sanders fam. Being reunited as a family on the big day, she wrote, “Surrounded by love and legacy. Watching my brothers get drafted with our family by our side was a moment I’ll never forget. God’s timing is #PerfectTiming —y’all were made for this! So proud, so thankful, so full. #GodIsGood #Legendary.”
And Deiondra preaches this in every way possible. As she posed with Baby Snow, her T-shirt read, “Legendary.” The other pictures showed the little one flashing his toothless smile to Grandpa Deion while they were watching the draft together. In another picture, Shilo is holding his nephew, the three generations of whom are chilling on a red couch. There is also a clip from the after-Draft party, where Shedeur, with a microphone, is spotted singing his ‘Perfect Timing’ rap. Flashing a chunky necklace, the Buffs quarterback had Deion Sanders Jr. vibing to the rap, next to him. So what better reunion than this? Even through that video, Deiondra posted a message. She recorded someone at the party, holding a placard. It read, “FROM UR SISTERS WE PROUD OF U.” In that way, till the last minute, Deiondra has been there by Shedeur’s side. No expectations, only love and support.
Deiondra Sanders’ fiery comeback after Shedeur got critiqued harshly
Deiondra takes pride in Shedeur’s Pro Day feat. After all, the Buffs quarterback didn’t disappoint. Mid-range? Checked. Long passes? Checked. So, Deion’s son came off as the perfect package, all ready for the pro league. In that way, he rained on the ‘nepo baby’ attacks. But at the same time, expectations started to soar. However, Deiondra stood away from the crowd and came with a message for her lil bro. She was asked about Shedeur’s potential NFL team. That’s when her message was enough to zip up the trolls.
“I don’t really have a team. I’m just so proud of him for the way he works hard and his work ethic. It’s like he’s done this thing right. You always have my dad to lead you, but you got to want it as well for sure. So, he’s done this thing right. So I’m just proud of him, whatever team he goes to. I just want him to go where he would like to go. That’s the best fit for him, and I’m just proud of him. It doesn’t matter where he goes.” Along with this, she tried his level best not to allow Shedeur’s reputation get soiled before the big day.
That’s when NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero came with a detailed summary of what the NFL scouts felt about Shedeur. One of them claimed it as the “worst formal interview ever.” While another one said, “He’s so entitled. He takes unnecessary sacks.” And how could Deiondra just let all these harsh comments just slip by? On April 24, she fired at the critics and wrote, “When the hate don’t work. They start telling lies.” Crowned as Deion Sanders’ No. 1, Deiondra still wears the proud protector badge for her brothers.
