Sha’Carri Richardson Teases Fans With Comeback Hint As 2025’s Season Opener Hangs in Balance

It’s been about 8 months since we last saw Sha’Carri Richardson on the track. Nearly everyone’s kicked off their 2025 seasons. Gabby Thomas, Julien Alfred, and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone have all started off, and even Shericka Jackson has returned from injury. But Richardson, she’s nowhere to be seen. At the start, it felt like a build-up. Maybe she’s creating hype. But now that the indoor season has passed, the GST leg’s done, and so many major events have come and gone, many are thinking: where is Sha’Carri? Well, about that, we may have just gotten a hint from ‘That girl’ herself!

Last year, by this time, Sha’Carri Richardson was 3 races down. This year was supposed to follow through, too. And hopes were high, especially after Olympics.com listed her for the Miramar Invitational. Fans were ready for a showdown between her and Alfred. But then, Sha’Carri clarified on her Instagram Story with a sharp correction that “I will not be competing at Miramar Invitational,” over a “Lies lies lies” sticker. And yep, she didn’t show. But now, there’s finally an update.

On April 28, Sha’Carri posted a story from an indoor track, simply captioned “Training.” In full Nike gear and soft curls, she looked locked in, hinting that she’s been putting in quiet work behind the scenes. But the question remains, for what? According to the Shanghai Wanda Diamond League on May 3, Sha’Carri Richardson’s name is once again absent from the start list. Another no-show? Maybe! But none of that is sure for now.

Also, as Sha’Carri Richardson is one of those athletes who have been away from the Grand Slam Track 2025, it’s highly unlikely she will show up at the remaining three legs either. However, while her season opener hands in balance, she is making sure to be a sure-shot cheerleader for Christian Coleman. While confirming that she isn’t coming to Miramar, she hyped her boyfriend’s season schedule, which is out now. “Anyways, lock into babe’s schedule (smile emoji) About that time (fire emoji),” she wrote on another story.

But when it comes to Richardson’s presence, her opener still hangs on tenterhooks.

Sha’Carri Richardson’s out of another event?

We’re getting close now. In just a couple of weeks, the world’s fastest relay stars will head to Guangzhou, China, for another fire edition of the World Athletics Relays. But, Sha’Carri Richardson? Her name wasn’t on the list. Looks like she is about to miss another major track and field meet this season.

On April 22, USATF dropped the 28-athlete roster for the upcoming World Relays, which notably did not feature either Noah Lyles or Sha’Carri Richardson. That’s both reigning individual world champs opting out, which puts America in a really weak spot.

However, when it comes to Richardson, we have mixed signals now. And whether it’s the fact that she wants to save her form to enter late but with a bang or strategic planning, or just a little more personal preparation time, no one’s really saying. But if her latest post is anything to go by, something might be brewing. What do you think is?
