“My Older Brother Was K*lled”: New Raiders WR Can’t Contain Emotions in Tribute to New Orleans Victim, Tiger Bech

“They meant everything to each other,” Martin Bech said about his sons, Jack Bech and Tiger Bech. Loud and clear. During their early football days, the Bech Brothers were a force on the football field. Speaking of Tiger, elder to Jack by five years, was a standout receiver at St. Thomas More Catholic High School. He’d ended his high-school career, earning all-state honors, before heading to Princeton University.

At Princeton, he got even better as a receiver and a return specialist, earning second-team All-Ivy League honors in both 2017 and 2018. But football was not his dream career. After wrapping up his college at Princeton, Tiger moved to New York to work as a stockbroker at Seaport Global Holdings. But if you’re thinking that he’d leave his brother’s game, who was a standout WR at TUC—think again.

In fact, despite his demanding job, Tiger would fly from New York just to attend his brother’s game. The reason, you ask? Well, he wanted his little brother to make it to the pros, which, of course, became reality when the Raiders drafted Jack in the second round with the 58th overall pick. However, when the Raiders called Jack Bech’s name, unfortunately, Tiger wasn’t there to witness this unforgettable moment for his brother and family.

At 27, Tiger was tragically killed in a terror attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day. Now that Jack is finally ready to enter the pros, he took to his official ‘X’ handle and paid tribute to his brother. “My older brother was killed in the New Orleans terror attack earlier this year,” Jack wrote in his post. “I wouldn’t have gotten to this point without him. Tiger, this is for you. 7 to Heaven.” Tiger was one of the 14 people who were tragically killed in an attack on Bourbon Street on January 1.

At the time of the terror attack, Tiger was vacationing in New Orleans.“I always believe that God has a greater plan, no matter if you see it working or not,” Jack Bech told NBC News. “I definitely know that he is in a better place, and that he’s going to be here 100% with us.” While growing up, the Beck brothers dreamt of seeing Jack in the pros.

The 22-year-old wideout is set to enter the pros fresh off the best season he’s had at TCU. The guy had 133 receptions for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns, and let’s just say, it was Tiger who shaped Jack’s career. Bach wrapped up his collegiate career right after the Bourbon Street attack with a game-winning TD and earned Senior Bowl MVP.

Bech called his elder brother his “mentor” and the person who “first saw greatness” in him. And if you’re thinking that wasn’t enough for the Raiders to draft Jack—well, the wideout will tell you why it was the best decision of Vegas to pick him.“Two-for-one special. … You’re not only getting me, you’re getting Tiger, too,” he said. “I feel like I have another person in me pushing me and taking me to those levels.”

That said, Jack Bech is now gearing up to start his professional career with the Raiders. And no wonder his brother will always be pushing him.

Where will Jack Bech fit in Pete Carroll’s offense?

After signing Pete Carroll as their next head coach, the Raiders are building their offense. First, they brought Chip Kelly as their offensive coordinator. Then, to address their QB conundrum, Vegas traded for Geno Smith from Seattle. And now? Well, the NFL draft is done and dusted, and looking at the Raiders’ draft moves, it’s safe to say the team’s offense is getting a serious glow-up. Why?

Well, for starters, they drafted Boise State’s star RB, Ashton Jeanty, with the sixth overall pick. We are talking about a guy was literally led the nation with 2,595 rushing yards in 2024. To top that off, the Raiders also added depth to their receiving room—drafting former TCU’s WR, Jack Bech, with their second pick of the draft.

The guy’s ready to enter the pros after having the best season of his career with a fruitful 62-1034-9 campaign. But the big question? Where will he fit in Pete Carroll’s offense? Everyone expected them to go wide receiver after shipping off Davante Adams. Jakobi Meyers did his thing as WR1, no doubt, but after that? It got thin fast. Trey Tucker, the WR3 last year, only put up 539 yards and three touchdowns.

So yeah, don’t be surprised if Bech slides right into that WR2 spot and starts cooking. All in all, with Myers and the second-year tight end, Brock Bowers, on the roster, the Raiders surely added depth to their offense by drafting Bech and Jeanty.
