Bryce James had already made one of the biggest decisions of his basketball career. But getting pen to paper happened today at the Sierra Canyon campus. James stood alongside all of his college teammates and did the formal signing for his commitment to the University of Arizona. And as a mother, Savannah James was bursting with pride as her younger son smiled from ear to ear when finalizing his collegiate decision.
The entrepreneur posted an Instagram story with the caption “Signing Day” that featured James alongside his teammate Bryce Cofield. The latter also received a college scholarship, committing to Cal State Fullerton. However, as balloons of their college colors surrounded them as so did their high school teammates. Bryce James didn’t have anyone else present.
Neither the Lakers duo of LeBron James and Bronny James nor Savannah James was present during his landmark moment. The reasons for the same are still unknown. However, a formal signing isn’t the important moment during these college decisions. Notably, when the 17-year-old went for an unofficial campus visit, his mother also joined in.
They even took a picture together, wearing the Wildcats’ University jacket.

Months later, he committed to the Wildcats, a college that had long pursued the promising prospect. As for any doubts about the family showing support, there shouldn’t be any. Both Svannah and LeBron James have taken the time to show their support to all of their children. Even when the Akron Hammer was suffering from a groin injury, he attended Bryce James’ state championship game.
Not just that, but he was probably the loudest supporter in the crowd. Both parents could be seen jumping from their seats during the closeout moments of the game as the 17-year-old won the title with Sierra Canyon.
Bryce James is saving big bucks
Just like his elder brother, the spotlight will likely shine on Bryce James throughout his time with the University of Arizona. His last name carries that weight. Moreover, with the assumption that LeBron James could be playing potentially his last NBA season with Bryce, every step will be closely monitored.
But so far, the 6’6″ shooting guard is only making the right headlines. As LeBron James revealed on the Pat McAfee Show, the 17-year-old earned a “full ride” scholarship to Arizona.
In terms of finance, the costs of college won’t really put a dent in LeBron James’ resume. But regardless, Bryce James’ hard work and achievements in high school will lead to immense savings for the James family. As per US Sports Scholarship website, a full-ride scholarship covers all the major costs, including tuition and living arrangements.
Depending on the college, such major expenses “can be worth up to a staggering $400,000 over four years,” as per the website. With him earning a full-ride scholarship, Bryce James has managed to secure his college future by only letting his family cover the incidental expenses through his three-year journey.
But it’s still uncertain how long the 17-year-old will spend in Arizona. There’s a good chance that he follows Bronny James’ footsteps and sticks to the ‘one and done’ system. Or he could also opt for more growth by staying in college. Although that would make him and LeBron James playing together a highly unlikely outcome.
Those technicalities aside, the younger son from the James family is making his parents proud. And the anticipation for his college journey keeps growing as people wonder what the future holds.
