“They don’t pay bad players that type of money,” the rookie tight end Mason Taylor said about Justin Fields‘ 2-year $40 million deal with $30 million guaranteed. The LSU product kept praising Fields, calling him “A really good quarterback.” It’s a feeling in the entire camp that Justin Fields will definitely change their outcome. Since 2010, they have only one aim qualify for the play-offs. HC Aaron Glenn is also giving all the positive signals that he can. He declared the former Steelers QB as their starter, with Tyrod Taylor as the backup. However, there are other things to play.
The Jets 2025 draft class tells one story out loud. 3 out of 7 picks are offensive players. Missouri OT Armand Membou (first round – 7th overall), LSU TE Mason Taylor (second round – 35th overall), and Georgia WR Arian Smith (fourth round – 110th overall). No QB though!
It tells their QB plan clearly. NFL analyst Rich Cimini claimed that the Jets want Fields to go all-in this year. And if he fails, they will have a QB-loaded 2026 Draft. They had a chance to draft good QBs like Shedeur Sanders this year, but chose to ignore him.
A $30M guarantee … three drafts picks on offense … no QB picks. The #Jets want Justin Fields to be more than a post-Rodgers transition QB. And if it doesn’t work … a loaded QB draft in ‘26. https://t.co/6ruVmyux3S

While talking about Justin Fields, Aaron Glenn said, “Listen, we want to surround Justin with good skill players, along with a good offensive line. So any time you can do that within any offense, with any quarterback, man, that’s an A-plus. So that’s the plan. Let him be a quarterback and surround him with good players.”
The NY Jets did not press for any quarterback in the draft, but signed Missouri QB Brady Cook as an undrafted free agent. It’s a good show of confidence. The Gang Green is hoping for things to change. It’s also forcing them to make changes in other areas of the team as well.
Aaron Glenn signs a beast in defense
This is the 3rd time the head coach has come to the City of Dreams. Aaron Glenn initially played 8 seasons (1994-2001) for the Jets. In 2012, he returned to the franchise as a scout for 2 years. But this time, he is carrying enormous responsibilities on his shoulders.
To make sure that they have smooth players in their roster in the time of need, he turned to Folorunso ‘Foley’ Fatukasi. The 6-foot-4, 318 lbs defensive tackle is a beast with 7 years of experience in his kitty. Interestingly, the NY Jets drafted him in the 6th round (180th overall) 2018 Draft. He moved to the Jaguars in 2022 on a 3-year $30 million before moving to the Texans in 2024. He signed a 1-year $5.1 contract with them.

His arrival will also help them stop the rushing attacks. In 86 games (63 starters), the DT recorded 5.5 sacks, 7 defended passes, 1 forced fumble, and 187 tackles (106 solo). Pro Football Focus ranked him among the best DTs’ the league in 2020 with a 86.2 run defense grade. So,they are making the right moves. Will they fall in the right places though? We’ll find out soon.
